Recovery pump

Hi , does anyone know if I need a condensing coil if I’m going to be using a recovery pump ? Upgrading from a one pound closed loop to a 5 and I’m going to be using a recovery pump , previously I just used ice hot water and a lot of time . Any tips on recovery pumps would be greatly appreciated! Thanks

Sure you could use it for both injection, and recovery. Is it necessary? No… Will help you produce a better product? Yes… Would I get 1? (I would already have one.)

Your gonna want a coil with atleast melt ice in there after the pump, you can technically get away with it depending on the pump but time is money

yes, absolutely…and, like you, there are also plenty that don’t.

seriously; that’s the question you asked!!.

your placement and tag choice also leave a lot to be desired…

why Cannabiz? 'cause this is your primary hustle?!?

are you distilling? or using ethanol?
So why the misdirection?!?

the whole point of tags is so others with the same question can find the answer without raising their hand and asking the question again.

did you search?
I suggest some time reading the results to

https://future4200.com/search?q=do+I+need+a+coil

because it looks like there’s a decent amount of stuff you could use behind it.

Do you need a condensing coil when using a recovery pump?

No, but you’re gonna want to remove the heat somehow (there are all sorts of heat exchangers that will work…coils are cheap).

A coil in a bucket of water (eg the mt-69) will work. As would sticking your tank in a dry ice slurry. the latter makes more sense if you’re going passive, but would obviate the need for a coil…

The first gen CMEP-OL’s had a fan and a radiator. folks still used coils. factory eventually dropped the radiator.

pumps need to be protected from your hash, and your hash needs to be protected from your pump. both of those are actually more difficult than they sound.

Ok thankyou . I thought I heard somewhere I need to condense the vapors back into a liquid before they hit the pump to help protect the pump from breaking . I’m assuming this person was wrong tho ? Thanks again and sorry about the post being wrong place and tags , have to choose something and they only give me so many options and none seemed like a great fit

:+1: yep, they have the coil on the wrong side of their pump (or you’re misremembering what they told you).

piston based pumps are way happier with a vapor they can compress than a liquid they cannot. most should handle a liquid feed, but I’ve heard the sudden change from vapor to liquid input can be considerably more problematic.

Location has a scroll bar you might have missed.

and Tags has a “search” function

that even offers to create a new tag if you search for a new thing

it’s not supposed to be hard.
nor is this supposed to sound harsh.
