Raschig Rings, & Berl Saddles, Oh my!

Hello! I am operating a 10lb supercritical c02 machine running various extractions and was wondering if anybody had any experience filling columns/vessels with Raschig rings when you don’t have enough product to fill the vessel completely but don’t want to use lots of C02? In this case I’m more interested in finding out which is the more effective method.

Any successes? Pros, Cons?

I was told aquarium stones or something of the like by one of the extraction companies.

Stainless steel ball bearings.

Calaculate the volume of your column and figure out how many .5" balls you need.I would not use caramic saddles, they may break down under pressure.
