Ran into the Medusa at a new job, quickly was able to come up with a solid work around!

I use SD and have no Medusa or fast crash issues

You run fresh frozen or dry? I can run dry and no fast crash but FF instant crash.

We’re running cured material rn

Don’t you also pour directly into your miner at high temps?

No I pour into a pyrex. I recover all the way till it’s thick and then pour

I’ll give the thicker pours a try. Appreciate the response

I can post a few videos of the pours to give an idea of how thick once I get the chance to pour out

Can you share the temps your usually start with on your miner? Really curious about temps.

That varies per each miner but they’re in a range 70-100f

Would you say it’s the fact that your pouring thick that you aren’t seeing it? Do you have any belief that SD is cleaner than others?

I don’t believe his gas is cleaner. They might clean the tanks but the gas is still coming from the same plugs if I’m correct. It could be that I’m pouring thick but idk really to say that’s why for sure

You are correct about that. All the suppliers either get from diversified or cortland(rip).

Kaplan was really cool (Devin I believe is who I spoke with) gave us a brand brand new tank that was beautiful and they were hoping that it would be good but it wasn’t. His initial thoughts were that the 239 tanks are also used for propylene and that once there filled with propylene there supposed to not be used for our butane but that they happens all the time. This is why he felt the brand new tank was gonna make the difference.

If I pour out thick into a Pyrex that shit is gonna be fully crashed out in a hour. The one part of this whole thing that doesn’t still make sense is the random people not having the issue.

Like every extractor that has come across this issue first hand immediately realize something is off and different from what they are used to. Humbles them quickly.

@Waxplug1 whats good with the big centrifuges. When you bring one up, your more then welcome to see what happens first hand.

Its FF verse dry don’t you think?
I can run dry and no fast crash but FF is a diff story.

I still get it BAD with cured sometimes. not everytime though.

This is from an 18lb WPFF run. I don’t use CRC.

We have it with both ff and dry. We find ff tends to have less issues and I think it’s the higher terps that help.

Depends on the terp. It would be cool to have a complete list of dielectric constants of all the terpenes found in an extract to understand which are more or less non-polar. The only list I can find has only a hand full of terps with an average dielectric constant of 2.3. I believe the higher the dielectric constant the more polar the solvent, but anything under 5 is considered non polar.

Perhaps it gets even more complex with the amount of water each terpene solvent will hold onto

We have noticed similar trends. We (usually) don’t run into the issue with live.

Getting better at preventing the fast crash with all kinds of material in general, just frustrating for sure.
