Professor of Cannabis Studies at (insert) University

I feel like someone from here should get a teaching degree and start a professorship at a university dedicated to the studies of cannabis because I think it has a place in the world of education and it would be cool.

It’s easier to start your own degree program on EdX, Udemy, etc

Pay $5,000 and get F42K certified in 6 months

If I’m not mistaken several US universities have cannabis programs, the only one I’m certain of is Michigan off the top of my head. There’s a few international programs, one in Aus (I don’t fkn know why bc that country isn’t cannabis friendly). Then there’s oaksterdam, which I have no opinion on since I’ve never met an alumni

I’d be so down to teach an extraction professional degree program

Unironically I think this is a good idea. I mean, we can’t and shouldn’t rely on pure government regulations, the industry should put it’s foot out and start the initiative. Every other industry has certification and apprentice programs, I don’t see why cannabis cultivation should be any exception. It will help weed out the posers too, right now the industry relies on good will and word of mouth, while that is always valuable, the reality is it’s unfeasible and as cannabis companies continue to pop up left and right we will eventually need something of face value that can determine if someone knows if they are at minimum educated in the field. I think it’s really good for optics too.

Standardization (among a few other things) is what will legitimatize the industry to many neysayers and regulation entities. There are plenty of community colleges or trade schools that will take on a program also. These are a few things I’m excited to bring to the industry sooner than later.

I feel that true approval will be here, when academic universities around the world accept cannabis as a curriculum without predjudice.

Special universities present a less broader picture, that sometimes lacks the perspective needed to solve problems.

More academy and science will be very welcome by unbyass opinions…

It is a series of formal sciences wrapped into one subject, to have a cohesive course, based on engineering, physics, chemistry, botany, and physiology would be absolutely awesome.

Why it always drove me nuts when people are like “it’s not rocket science”

Like, uhm, pardon me, but the equations for gas in an extractor, is basically what you’d use for rocket science…

“did we work in the same company?”

CAUSE I HEARD THAT ALOT :)))

And then I started with the comprehensive explanation why we need to follow the deadlines and cashflows talks are a in order when you finish the season with a couple of tons of trimmed and mo free flowr…

This was followed by a dull stare and afterwords a quick magic trick of reavery8ng attention to another thematic…

“It aint rocket science” nah… Its nature being contained by the puny human. Some would even stipulate its trickier because of that…

No offense to rocket scientists out there, they are doing their bid to expand the landfill that is earth…

Which reminds me of a modern filosofer that had a preety clear picture about this topic

FGCU in Florida has extracting classes

They have a good cannabis education program but college isn’t for me. I prefer learning on my own.

Old friend locally is going there I believe or graduated already idfk

I prefer rocket surgery…but maybe I’m the only one with a habit of modifying CLS plumbing mid run.

Hey man, how about, every profession has its place, and should be respected, we are surrounded daily with that, which we don’t understand.

We see things, but fail to grasp the immensity of humanity it took to build it/make it. People crack open a can of soda, and fail to realize there were many hands in the process of making that moment happen. It takes a lot of “simple” things that lead up to complex processes.

Ceo or Custodian they all have to be practiced and understood to do well.

i dont think cannabis really needs its own section… do you all see opiate studies at universities?? this is just another industry in its infancy.

Natural products separation and synthesis is what “opiate studies” would fall under. Large scale cannabis is kind of an intersection of petrol engineering and natural products synthesis. Perhaps just a degree path underneath a standard degree similar to how I have a chemistry degree but I’m actually a biochemist.

I don’t think it needs its own section. But certain basic course work and basic fundamental understandings do need to be established. Norms set. Which dialogs and the places to discuss them are about the best starting point. As it comes out of infancy I have faith it will all become it’s own industry, from educating, delivery of materials, engineering, the list for potential niche arenas is pretty bonkers, as it overall as a material science comes to be better, and cohesively defined, those roles will filter down, more and more, and people (as already evidenced here) from differing educational back grounds find their homes.

This is what I mean.

You have much to gain from a broader perspective than just deriving from a cannabis plant perspective.

College can give you diversity of thinking and other examples that can be applied directly afterwards. The thing you dont need to learn adn learn it anyway might come usefull down the line…

Not saying and prqising the system, im praising the filosofical stance that any knowledge be it academic or practical has it place but togehter the form giants…

We really need to start combining our own scifi and start publishing… All the wealth of knowledge here should burry the capital interest…
