Network upgrades. We have had a pretty good record of keeping online during upgrades. Since this is an infrastructure upgrade there may be up to an hour of downtime (DNS Propagation) as we flip hosts to the backup mirror if things go horribly wrong.
Second best case scenario expect up to an hour of read only.
Best case u no notice.

Use someone like Cloudflare for the DNS?
They have some nifty features like always online cache when server is down or unreachable.
I hear you on Cloudflare, but the botnet is real.
Checkout HAproxy. Using a transparent proxy and db mirroring is the way to go as far as keeping something like this online securely between two or more hosts. I go read only to be sure there’s no database funny business. GitHub - discourse/discourse_docker: A Docker image for Discourse
We could get super fancy but this seems like overkill as it is. Multi hosts, each host has multiple containers, db synced in real time, off site encrypted backup plan. Easy to roll since it’s the same-ish plan I use for everything.
