Plant sex testing? PHYLOS quit!

Yes. I have seen this happen. I’ve also seen it happen in someone else’s field and then fuck up the fields of everyone that is downwind or crosswind from them for the next couple of miles. Including greenhouses without pollen screens on their vents. x.X

People are not always the best. Reputable vendors can make mistakes. It happens - doing something to check and make sure things appear to be correct is important.

You are legit then testing that the process they used to produce the seeds came out with results that are similar to what is expected. Which means - if they say its feminized seed - your test supports that. If they say its not - then you look to see if its closer to 50:50 or somewhere in between. Hell - some people actually want males everywhere (because they want seeds everywhere…because their product requires seeds…)

I spent thousands and thousands of dollars trying to develop an algorithm for drone flyovers of acres of hemp crops to detect males - because seeds are still an issue with industrial hemp. It works - but then you have to have a drone and a pilot and all of that as well. 2000 acre fields is a lot of space to fly over.

Anything else I could possibly do to make sure that from the start we would have minimal males was important - because hand walking 2000 acres looking at plants, or testing every single plant out there, etc was never going to happen consistently enough and at the right time to prevent these kinds of mistakes.

So glad to be operating indoor now and not worried about outdoor growing on hundreds of acres.
