“higher pressure just means faster and dirtier crystals” - IMHO ‘Dirty crystal’ is a product of poor/zero filtration or too quick evaporation. When I started R&Ding the crystal tek I had many test runs that were not inline dewaxed and would form a thick, waxy layer at the bottom of my jars. When I realized I was lacking purity in my filtrate I bought a Welch Dryfast pump, an Errlenmeyer flask, Buchner Funnel and began filtering my solutions post extraction. To summarize, I would process my material using freezing solvents, filter my fat content inline, then recover 2/3 my solvent before leaving 1/3 to allow for lipid coagulation and filtration once outside the CLS. It was only after this post filtration that I was able to grow large, faceted crystals that would form independently. In the end, evaporation rates are a huge key to success when growing crystal but starting with a pure filtrate allows you to exceed pressures of 100psi whilst growing pure, large, independent faceted crystal formations. I would love to hear some feedback, still new to all of this.
In that post you sent me to only answer what’s done to the terp fraction, I’m wondering at the moment I pour the terps off, what do I with all the stuff that’s left in jar, all the solid crystals… Do they go in freezer or back in vac oven ,under no vac at 85f… Or do the THCa fraction go in the freezer at this point? I’ve just poured the terps off and capped them, they back at 85f.
Once your satisfied with your crystal growth the terps can be poured off, and set aside. The crystals can now be placed in a vac oven to help purge excess solvents. Most sauce has alot of residual hydrocarbons, especially the terpine fraction.
It’s been in vac oven at 85f w no vac in sealed jars to get positive pressure, the crystals have grown while in the oven,… It says they need another week or so and at some point the straight crystals go in freezer while the terps continue to Crystal being sealed up, then after they done purge them low and slow I get this part and when to put back together, it’s just how long for the second phase in the freezer, after you have grown your crystals, it’s in his directions first post

Ok my bad, so your saying once crystallization happens basically the residuals are gone? If that’s case I can purge the terps at -15bar for couple days then add them back to the crystals right

I understand they have residuals, good Lord I know it’s gotta be a lot better than that no purge shit back when I started years ago…I just want it purge best as possible, can I put crystals in the vac oven, do I pull vac? What temp, I know there tons ways to do this, as I usually just let me mother liquid reduced straight from blaster with room temp maybe 65f , once no reaction I purge full vac but I get there slow so no muffin, about hour or so in all, then I seal in small4oz mason jar, the guy that taught me that on Reddit sent me here to further my field, I’m just trying to make sure I get this clean,I never not purged at all and jarred up with tane in, I used this tech with my full spectrum I made about 3wkz ago… Got great separation and heavy crystals on bottom, I got terps off and letting finish as of now
I would purge the crystals separately from the terp layer. Purge the crystals at 85f for several hours under hard vac, purge the terps with vaccum, no heat. The crystals can handle some abuse where the more volitlile terpines are more likely to off gas.
Ok -15 to -20 ok for terps and no heat…and crystals can take full vac at 85f how long do you suggest? Do you ever turn the pump on to circulate the air, exchange it?
And after I pour off terps should I not let the crystals continue precipitating? I feel that they will continue to Crystal some
Hey buddy I have big question I have a run that the terpenes turned out awful, my biggest thca crystals yet though is there any way that I could remove the terpenes and then add some terpenes off of a mix that I have that are super good, I need the easiest method to remove terpiness to keep the crystals
Get everything cold, break up the crystals, wash in a Bucher with ice cold etoh, dry in an vacuum oven. Be very quick when washing the crystals, some will dissolve.
No I sweep my oven’s with inert gas, I leave the pump on the entire time.
If you let the crystallization fully complete there won’t be any need to further process the terp layer
Does this wash off terpines, or crystals the I have to regrow?

The goal is to remove the solvent fast, otherwise the crystals will melt. Vacuum filtration is a must.
