Diamonds are very resilient, they can take a harsh climate 85° full vac won’t hurt them at all, I’ve heard stories of butane being froze inside the Crystal and it busting a crystal and getting everywhere but I’ve never had that happen… If you’re just trying to purge some for your personal consumption might bust them into smaller pieces ,full vac 85 for some time, personally once I saw nothing was happening after day I would do, but the rest I wouldnt purge just toss back in the jar and try not to open your jars once sealed, the THCa gathers on itself, so they be getting great head start, there should be tons left in that liquid you poured off I’m guessing, Itll continue crystallization over next couple weeks, …you said 2 days yesterday, that’s still a lot time to crystallize… You gathered very well with dry ice part that’s why you saw something quickly, which isn’t not normal I’m pretty sure,. I’m giving couple more go soon I just ran out of what I had left of this, I’m just glad my sauce for dummies backwood method also does just great at producing beautiful stuff too, lil quicker in the long run…time and your vac oven/vac chamber with heating pad thermostat set is your best friend for purging though, it cleans up all the bad throat feel and any slightly off taste, but I do like to consume it before dries out to much(jars don’t let this happen, might separate again but just stir back up), always leave jarred up, terps will dry off if not, or like when I take to many the terps to make Vapes it taste better to me with the perfect amount terps, sometimes isn’t what the plant gave, here lately I have been getting extremely terpene batches, super wet even after all that time, I just skim it… Later bro good luck

So when I was letting the tane evap for the room temp phase, 4 of my 12 jars didn’t evap all the way (I’m pretty sure I some how spilled rubbing alcohol in there…maybe even a little water). I left them open overnight and they are still half full of very light gold liquid. Assuming it’s alcohol and water what would you recommend I do to salvage?

Your not gonna get anyone to give you an average yield on here I’m almost sure, to many variables… First your strain, really don’t matter which one,(but yes some way higher than others just in genes) just if grown correctly can greatly impact thc and terps production… Then if wet/dry… Then deawaxed or not, plant matter is weight… See what I’m saying here, I don’t know if anyone can give you exact returns… With live about 5-10%. And if we’re talking mother solution then ooo the variables really change then too… What are your concerns, last time I asked someone they told me maybe I shouldn’t be blasting if I was so concerned, hell I was just trying to get my numbers down… But now I see it changes plant to plant and if everything was 100% healthy or not
while this is all true, I think Gene was simply trying to get an idea of yield for this tek vs processing for shatter/wax/etc. Say I run a 1lb column of live and got X grams at Y% overall yield from that 1lb column, does this method end up with around the same X/Y value or will it be marginally different due to less exposure to heat/vac? My thoughts are that this method would yield a bit more since many of the terps are not being evaporated off - given the same starting material and all that.
folks trying to figure yield need to have a solid grasp on what is actually in their starting material. I recommend in house analytics for that purpose.
If your starting material is 20% THC, then aiming for 22% crude by weight is appropriate. at least until you winterize. If you’re starting with trim at 3% THC, then you should be perfectly happy with 3% by weight as a yield
If you want sauce, you need terps. that 3% THC leaf doesn’t have anywhere near what the 20% flower does.
to alter the sauce to diamonds ratio, one needs to up the terps. they don’t just magically appear because you sealed butane in a jar. Which is why many folks start with fresh frozen material.
In theory, slow purging should yield slightly more of the terpenes that were in the original material than more tradition oven based purging.
When you add up the cannabinoids in the high cannabinoids fraction (diamonds) and in the high terpene faction (sauce), it should be at about 95% of what was in the biomasss when you put in the tube a month ago. Assuming you did the initial extraction with enough solvent.
The ratio of diamonds to sauce? depends on how well you deplete the mother liquor. Which will depend on your finishing temp to some degree. It will also depend on the particular terps you’re working with and their ability to hold THCA in solution. They’re all pretty good at it, but some are better than others…
Had two caps pop on me today @ 80f. One jar was two weeks in the other was 5 days in. Too much solvent left? Jars are about 1/3 full. They all sat at room temp for 2+ hours before being capped
I use the warm vapors to help push the cold solvent into the cold tubes. Without it the pressure is at a negative on both the system and the tank. Which makes it hard to get the solvent into the system.
It sounds like you’re not getting a full separation. Once you feel you have achieved separation try burping a few times.
My attempts at this trick simply led to more liquid solvent in the system

So I had my dewaxed liquid gold in mason jars in the freezer for 72 hrs in dry ice/cryo. I took them out for 4 hours and they reduced away down to the point of almost nothing. I think I left them open too long. I moved the mother liquid to a smaller ball jar. I have them in the freezer right now but was going to tighten them up and put them on the 85 degree heat. I will add pictures when I get home. Any help would be greatly appreciated
Yes, see when using these directions he is using a ton more everything than you probably, just like me, that’s why you have to get an eye for it… You wanted actual butane, really runny see thru light golden, then your jar it up, with tons Tane left in the solution, you left open to long to make long story short, it changes person to person but it gets you in the right ball park for sure
Small batches don’t take as long on some the steps, but just due to smaller amounts of everything means you could essentially evap all your tane before you ever lid if not careful, if trying to grow bigger crystals, just resaturate with your tane and start over, or i would just go on to next step

If your just trying to make simple sauce you don’t have to restart, if you want huge crystals, you probably should, not enough butane to slowly evaporate off forming the crystals
If my jars are all 2/3rds full and well saturated with butane, (mother liquid very liquidy like water before crying) have been in cryo for 4 days with no separation occurring, do I have too much butane? Not enough butane? Any other suggestions?
