I got an Edwards 28 thats been sitting for some time. It seems like its quite weak. Bogs down doesn’t sound like its supposed to. The fan was stuck I got it unstuck and running, What are the likely causes and solutions?
Oil pumps that have been stored prior to intensive cleaning can get screwed by the solvent and residues left in the oil
Sediment drops to the bottom or crystelization occurs if residues can crystelize
A good cleaning often helps BUT the gaskets of oilpumps are a bitch to reuse so chances are some oilleaks after
Try and run it with no vac load, intake open and gas ballast open.
Goal is for the pump itself to get warm from running and clear out the blockages.
Let it run like that for like 30min, shut it down and immediately drain the oil while it’s hot. Might be worthwhile to try this warm flush 2x.
Then add your final oil and try it out.
If it works you’ll hear it.
ya i actually took the power cover off and located the switch that determines input voltage. fixed. these things are beasts. oil changed, needs another after i warm it up for 30 minutes.
oh I heard it, after I switched it from 240 to 120 lol. sounds like a banshee. ill flush it a couple times for sure. It prob sat for 2-3 years.
