The rhizosphere is what balances your ph this is why i do not have to even ph any of my water/ nutrients if it falls between 6-8 the microbes naturally adjust and feed your plant as needed. After doing some research on google scholar i have found that you are correct that the rhizosphere is not greatly effected by salts . But the bulk soil micro biology is changed . Responses of extracellular enzyme activities and microbial community in both the rhizosphere and bulk soil to long-term fertilization practices in a fluvo-aquic soil - ScienceDirect
Highlights
► Positive effect of inorganic fertilizer on most enzyme activities in the bulk soil. ► Negative effect of inorganic fertilizer on most enzyme activities in the rhizosphere. ► Organic fertilizer enhanced enzyme activities in both the rhizosphere and bulk soil. ► Total PLFA was almost doubled in the rhizosphere by organic fertilization. ► The influence of fertilizer on soil microbes can be mediated by rhizosphere effects.
I read a lot of different studies it is interesting stuff definitely has an effect on soil i encourage further research . I just look of effects of fertilizer on rhizosphere and bulk soil lots of very interesting studies . I am still all for organics because of the water table just look at what happened to states like iowa nothing but corn the whole state all grown with chemical salts .
I have always wanted to try growing with salts in dwc the thing that has kept me from running salts is because i do not want to put them back into the environment because we all know fertilizer run off is not good
Been at this for 21yrs my bro and found out about feeding my soil before my plants long ago. I was one of Caps first commercial customers before OG bio war came in kilo+ amounts. I run Coco/ perlite(tupur) in either a recirculating or DTW system and inoculate the medium weekly to keep my microbiomes up. Remember the medium you choose is of no consequence as themicrobiomes are symbiotic with your root system. Im sure we have all seen unbelievable grows using aeroponics. Im glad you learned something about salts and im also going to learn about Sea Energy Agriculture.
The old tupur commercial, 60 day money back guarantee.
Yup, been using them since they started with basement mix. The owner are good people and they are also in our neck of the woods.
Ya mendo and basement have been the staple for yrs, you ever try the kings blend?
One of my boys is running it this year.
Im gonna give it a try this week and see, its the only one of there’s ive never used
Nice! Never tried it in hydroponics myself but plenty have with great result.
We use it on our field and in the greenhouses and our plants love it. Never have any pest or disease issues, even with the hemp. Seems to really “fill in the gaps” of their nutrition.
I have done side by sides of damn near every nute I could get my hands on at the time and I like the taste and smell of the canna best. There is quite a range of tastes and smells even from ones that look similar. Canna aqua Flores and botanicare pure blend pro alternated every feeding is my current favorite. I like the Leonardite. I have been using the diy canna numbers from fatman/jaliscokid/seamaiden and I just buy the pureblend. I know I’m buying water just like the mix
Smell of nutes have pretty much zero influence in Terps. If you think it does, might as well pour mt dew, faygo or the like.
Lol. Not how the nutes or soil smells… how that particular nute/soil makes the weed smell/taste. Like terroir for wine
And I tried mint compost instead of Mountain Dew… there used to be a strain going around Eugene in the 90’s that smelled just like mint Charlie (the creeping plant) I’ve been trying to find it for years. And since there is a lot of mint compost around there I tried it in case it was environment instead of strain (it wasn’t)
It doesnt work like that.
Guano’s do NOT make the flower taste like shit now does it? But a lot of users (including myself) use bat guano.
So your thinking nutrients that are broken down in the soild and converted to sugar by the plant are altering the taste/smell of terpenes?
100% it’s a pretty simple test. Grow 3 clones of the same plant. Plant one in roots 707, one in ocean forest and one in, say, nectar #4. Now feed them all the same nutes. You will have to mix them separately as each soil needs different levels of nute. You will notice there is a very big difference between the three. Pick the one you like best and do the experiment again but this time use the same soil and run as many nutrient systems as you are curious about. The source of the various nutes in the mix matter. Phosphorus from guano and phosphorus from soft rock phosphate are different. It’s a 3 month experiment that will change the way you grow forever. At least it did for me.
Guano makes the bud taste like soap to me… I love the idea it just tastes bad to me. Not like shit though.
You might both be right about guanos- I don’t think straight NPK from organic inputs makes the flavor “off”.
I think it’s some other factor like excess N or P after flush, unbalanced micros/minerals or too much chitosan from insect-eating bats and birds that gives it that recognizable earthy flavor.
