Item: Milestone Ethos X Microwave Extractor with all glassware, fittings, chiller, and power booster pack. We have used this equipment for 7 runs total, used less than 10 hours. Works very well, we are just moving in a different direction for our operation. It has a 12L vessel. We paid right at $45K in January. Turn key set up and in excellent/like new condition.
We don’t. I can tell you that we found that our sweet spot on running drier biomass was about 1.3-1.5 lbs, soaked in water for several hours and we would get between 10-15ml of clear to slightly tinted, very fragrant oil. We actually reintroduced the terps on the back end of some of our hcfse and we ended up with tremendous (25-36%) terpene content on those batches. I have some videos on my phone of the collection process, I am just not sure how to get the video moved and then uploaded here. So I took some screenshots. This was our first run. There is some fine sediment in the collection tube, but the starting biomass was low quality and outdoor. It remained on the side wall of the tube. But you can see the color and volume of the oil.

Did you ever see any emulsions, or have issues with the terpene oil separating from the condensed solutions? Any differences in yield if you ran fresh bud versus dry trim?
As far as emulsions, I dried all terpenes with magnesium sulfate to remove residual water. Dry bud vs trim yield similar when you take the water weight into account, but of course, you can fit more dry material in a single run (though the process involves “rehydrating” it anyway).
Good to know. Would you rehydrate the material after you dried it with magnesium sulfate, and by rehydrate are you saturating the bio mass or spraying it to add a few moisture points back in it.
We did add d-water to the biomass prior to microwaving. Water is what allows the extraction to occur.
we soaked it a few hours, then added water into the bowl.
Thanks for you input, this is all helpful. Is there any benefit to extracting with fresh biomass same day of harvest (when its still at 70-80% moisture) instead of drying biomass, then having to rehydrate it just to extract?
Interesting, thanks for sharing. And when you say re-hydrate are you completely soaking/saturating them in water as well, or just lightly spraying them to add little moisture back?
After you soaked the dried trim, what were the parameters you used for the microwave extraction run?
For example:
How long in the microzapper per lb of dry trim material?
W per lb of fry trim?
Temp while applying the microwaves? Vacuum pressure applied?
