Actually, we have a process for that. If I had it my way, you would just move in but after some missteps on my part (all began with the best of intentions) the family has reigned me in a little. You would fall into the “Rando” category. This might sound harsh, but wait until you hear what you qualify for:
- Easter Meal (The family has adopted a no rando or homeless people on Thanksgiving or Christmas. See comment about missteps with good intentions) Easter is my day. This was the first year I didn’t have any Randos over. Last year there were about 10.
- All family parties and open houses
- Strange, late night text introductions to other family members and randos you might be able to collaborate with or I think you have something in common with.
- Well-meaning, often too personal life input/advice. This is probably going to be Jesus-y but so loving you might not even mind.
- Geography-dependent casseroles and deliveries form my garden.
There are other benefits like watching my adult children mercilessly heckle me. It is probably that they are jealous that you are getting my attention. Do what I do, ignore them until they’ve had a few more beers and decide to settle down.
There’s no lab coat or anything but maybe we could come up with a patch.

We take multi-generational rando families. @c1d1labs is setting up processing in Maine and eventually I will be traveling again. Maybe a meet up.
