Massachusetts - There's an initiative to remove rec cannabis and adult cultivation. Lol. What kind of loser wants that

8 Billion dollar industry as of 2025 in MA alone. they can fuck right on off trying to remove it. There’s a little over 8 billion people on the planet. that means the amount of revenue that Massachusetts alone, has made from cannabis could give almost every human being on this planet 1 dollar.

The $8 billion milestone came amid a record breaking first half of 2025, with gross sales totaling $806 million between January and June. The Massachusetts cannabis industry also set monthly gross sales records during that time in January ($133.2 million), April ($134.5 million), and May ($142.3 million) for those months.

I wonder what the true motivation is behind it.
Is there a genuine correlation to higher potency products and mental illness rates?

I think if you wanted to make that argument they should also get rid of liquor stores. (I think that a majority of people who commit any sort of violent crimes are usually hammered *based off my personal viewing of YouTube bodycam footage and COPS.)

From my own anecdotal observations I think what really breaks people is sleep deprivation associated with the party lifestyle, more than anything else maybe.
(Perhaps we need harsher regulation on bedtime as a nation)

What sort of concentrates do they expect to sell in that % range they want to limit people to only rso etc? Do people actually buy those products consistently?

Sounds like it’s written by someone who doesn’t grow crippy and only makes rso more than protecting people.

I really don’t know why anyone would want to try to push this forward, but this woman opposed the decriminalization of psychedelics as well. Sounds to me like this is a busybody who has nothing better to do than to make regressive policy to line her pockets. I’m not really concerned at this being passed to be honest. Between the money the state is making and all the voters who smoke/grow, I think the likelihood of recriminalization is slim.

I know. It wouldn’t be worth it at all.

When I first got into things like over a decade ago MA was fucking shady as fuck requiring like what 500k or something is what they were asking to even be CONSIDERED for a license? A place wanted to teach me how to grow when they were laying the groundwork - when I asked who owned the spot the guy said ‘Oh the guy who owns charlies kitchen does’ so I said “Oh? The big fuckin loan shark?” ‘Oh no it’s XXXXXX and his partner XXXXXX’. Uh huh. Gotcha. I passed on it because they couldn’t even be straight with me within the first 5 minutes.

Until they wipe the slate clean in MA entirely this shit is gonna keep happening over and over and over

Yeah back in 2017/2018 I remember it being prohibitively expensive to start a cannabis business, basically forcing people to take predatory loans if they were a small business or just making a lot of space for MSOs. But then again I think all of us who have been in this state have seen a lot of bad actors, just so many owners who want nothing to do with the product but want to make money hand over fist while operators are navigating tight and unreasonable restrictions. There’s a lot of flaws in this system and we’ve dealt with nearly a decade of growing pains. I don’t know why anyone would try to criminalize a state regulated industry.

I just want to continue working in the industry and to bring good medicine to the people. It shouldn’t be that difficult.

Yeah i think i got offered a spot like 12 or so years ago. Crazy to think people were excited about it out there, one of the few states i know that has an actual rec system yet people will still buy from their local weed man

That’s definitely because it’s been a race to the bottom with price/quality. The weed when it first became legal hit different, I have no idea what happened to it since but dispo weed is often not worth it anymore.

Prices and quality. The weed guy learned to grow quality cannabis while the dispensaries learned to extract mold ridden cannabis. The weed guy is charging 1200/lb while the dispensaries are charging that for a quarter lb of shake.

The weed guy will come to me. Whereas a certain special could be halfway across the state in the middle of bumfuck nowhere and you waste a shit load of gas or time getting there only as a gamble with product quality.

Should be mass inspections of batches to overhaul the mold ridden material.

Shit you think the weedmen out there grow their own stuff? Nooooope!

I think I knew one dude in Quincy that did and calling his weed rabbit food would be very kind

It’s not hard to grow good weed. It’s hard to grow good weed at volume.

One plant can yield a lot of cannabis if you do it right.

Ahhhhh weed it’s for people who need an escape that’s not going to fucking kill you. Weed is the most used drug in the United States possibly on the planet.

I used to snort Ritalin and habitually drink cough medicine. I’d smoke weed and wonder why I did the things I was doing. Eventually, when I got my medical card, life changed. I felt like if it’s medicine I shouldn’t be smoking tobacco, I felt a lot of things that I was doing in life was contradicting the cannabis I was supposed to be using to help my mental health.

I quit snorting Ritalin before I got my medical card and I kind of just stopped doing robotussin after I turned 21 and I was doing that as a drug of choice off and on for 6 years. I wanted to grow up and not feel like wasting my life and I was afraid that if I kept doing that stuff and my friends moved on then I would be left behind. :octopus:

Now when I wake up and smoke it’s getting my head right. I couldn’t function as well as without it. Gotta say though, it’s kinda hell with my ADHD and if I went back to dabbing habitually I’d eventually end up dipping my toes into a psychotic episode.

Cannabis does have it’s risks, medically, recreational and it’s not for everyone. It’s not to say it shouldn’t be around though.

Alcohol isn’t for everyone.

It wont pass. Thats insane. I wouldn’t even worry about it. Stupid politicians taking donations and writing laws they know have no chance of passing to take the check from the lobbies.

pretty much my entire early cannabis career as a prop215 black/grey market farm employee can be summed up in the moment, while getting a big new farm ready for the growing season, i told my boss we should really be getting some trays of OG cuts and this newish strain everyone had been smoking on for the past year or so…girl scout cookies.

dude looked at me like i was insane and told me we can just crush a bunch of outdoor jack and blue dream and then use the money to buy OG and cookies from someone else. a crushing blow to my young spirit lol.
