This is amazing on a small scale RnD level however it’s just the beginning of actual pharmaceutical drug development. There’s a few directions this can go. At this point I can search for a mimic of any molecule in the chemical space of 100’s of millions of molecules.

Combinatorial chemistry has been around industry for a long time. One guy on my graduate committee had a robot that filled an entire room. It used ultrasound to levitate microliter droplets of reagents to avoid contamination and transport them on a cushion of soundwaves between the reservoir and the ‘reaction pot’. They’d do thousands of reactions a day to track down drug candidates. “High Throughput Screening” is the technical term.
