Lyophilization - General Discussion

Just started researching freeze-drying… let’s talk about it.
Pre-processing/Transporting/Shell life/Restrictions…

I’ve read only about raw produce being lyophilized, was wondering if this process can be used to remove water from extracts…

Feel free to post anything regarding Lyophilzation !

I guess you would submerge your fresh cut greens into liquid N2, then throw it all into a vacuum oven with a strong CFM pump = evap the water crystals via sublimination under deep vac pressure?

Yes this is the process in brief terms, used in many food processes.

In the realm of cannabis, is this procedure solely used for preservation ?

What can be done with this type of tech ?

Water removal prior to any type of extraction is optimal - it’s just a question of scalability. How do you effectively dry out 1000+ pounds of biomass in a reasonable amount of time…

Dont forget youll need to start intoducing heat into the equation once youve got ur pressure under the sublimation line, or else youll never get all the water out.
