Tuna can. As a gay man who has seen more peen than a urologist let me tell you that you possess the holy grail of PACKERS
Can anyone speak to extraction efficiency and yield? Does this increase throughput? Will the additional biomass require additional solvent thus more time per run?
hmm lets think about it for a second. faster packing = increased efficiency. faster packing + increased efficiency = an increase in throughput. The Luna is designed to fill the whole reactor with solvent(so whether you max out your volume or just run 1lb its the same unless you stop the fill early) and you can do multiple soaks. in regards to whether or not you need more solvent will be up to you and the material you’re running and if it is worth the time to do multiple soaks or if its better to just move on and running a new sock.
thats part of being an extractor bro, you gotta work with the variables and form your own opinion.
yield is all about your material. you will get relatively the same yield whether you pack 3 5lb pucks or 5lbs of loose material(in terms of % ofc not actual yield)
We’ve started making adapters for our standard 8in packer frame. So we send you the standard 8in packer (like sk8nmidget’s picture) with a reducer tube and reducer extension tube for any standard pipe or tube diameter. We’ve sent out three different diameters of “6in” packers for different bag sizes. Everyone’s bags seem to be slightly different.
For a custom sized packer, we measure your filter bag (send one to us), then build the packer adapter to that size.
They work in a freezer, but you need a good air dryer (not a passive dryer); otherwise, the moisture freezes, and things leak/break.
We’ll also be introducing hydraulic packers in the near(ish) future. They’ll be rated for low temperatures, and you’ll have more precise control over the packing pressure.
It puts the cannabis in the tube?
I just ordered one custom size should be here in about 8 weeks I’ll let you know what I think but from what I see I think it’s amazing
We have an 8inch unit with the 6inch adapter coming from Luna as well, it made sense to get the 6 inch for our other systems and plan to put it thru the paces when it arrives, hopefully it will make stuffing tubes less unpleasant
Do you use hydraulic fluid in your new design ?
We used to use cooking oil in our baler rams when harvesting outdoor because if the cylinder leaks with hydraulic fluid in it your product is toast, with the abuse we give our equipment, chances are the hydraulic fluid is going to leak
The process involves compacting the cannabis into a puck, which is then inserted into a filter sock and subsequently placed into the reactor. This transformation ensures that the biomass is precisely sized to fit seamlessly into our skid setup.
We use food-grade hydraulic fluid because, you’re right, there’s always a chance something leaks.
How is this working for you?
Any thoughts or insights?
I just received mine two weeks and I’m going to do a detailed write up on my experience with it once it gets working :-/
I’d like to tell you it works great but I’m still waiting for mine several weeks later ….
It’s not entirely Lunas fault as mine got lost in shipping but still waiting ….
That really sucks man, I hope they figure that out
Sounds like it could be a game changer as that’s the one job no one seems to want to do consistently
Are you having some issues with it right out of the gate?
I’ve honestly debated this as we use 6”x50” tube, so it kind of limits who can do the task because the tubes need to be manhandled. We don’t want to switch to socks because we’re consistently getting an extra 2 to 3 pounds per run unless it’s mulched.
I would hope that this would produce a fair bit less dust than traditional packing methods
Big problem with the conversion to the US dollar and possible duty is it would end up costing closer to 20 K local currency. So we need to make sure it’s worth it before partners will give the go ahead
I have had two an 8" and a 10" and have a third 12" on the way, both have worked great from day one.
Yes, it’s worth it, no question. We’ve had ours for 3 years now and packed thousands of pounds of both frozen and cured material, with minimal issues. Tell your boss to get off his wallet and order one.
I’ve been trying to get ahold of @LunaTechnologies for a hot minute now - anyone know, did they go out of business?
