Hey guys, long time lurker and like many I was laid off during this COVID pandemic.
Here are my summarized credentials, followed by a more detailed cover of my most recent experience, and finally me as a person.
-Two Years Extraction experience Ethanol and CO2
-Two years Short Path Distillation experience
-A year of production and process development experience
-Two and a half years in the cannabis industry
-Held Lab Lead and Lab Manager positions
-Ran HPLCs, GCs, Sulfur testers, KF testing, TLC, density testing, and centrifuges
-Experience in O&G, Pharmaceutical, and R&D labs
-Biomedical Engineer from the University of Houston.
I was training, shadowing, and substituting as an Operations Manager in Denver for six months with the goal to have me run a lab in WA and OR. This involved running an Agilent HPLC, producing products such as patches and tinctures, tracking inventory, dealing with METRC, packaging, and working with couriers.
Before that I ran an extraction lab in NC. I sourced materials, planned the layout, got equipment, ran our extractor, ran our SPD, produced isolate, and fulfilled orders. Our hang-up unfortunately was a combination of bank issues and losing credit card processing.
I worked for a GMP certified pharmaceutical company performing auditing, CAPAs, change of controls, and data reviews. My focus in this position was on excel macros as well as logic statements. I also adhered to Good Documenting Practices. The scope of this contract work was 21 CFR 211 for my compliance people.
In Colorado Springs I was the lab manager for a hemp extraction company. We used ethanol extraction with chemical totes which required sugar and lipid removal. This processed oil was then crystalized into isolate. I developed SOPs and trained new hires.

I love managing labs, I would have kept my first position in Houston if the pay was a bit better and it had health care. I enjoy tinkering and optimization. I’m your squeaky clean engineer with no criminal record. I’m married and am focused on finding a stable position to support my wife. We play games together and take our dog on hikes with us.
