Looking for tried and true nutrient profiles for dtw coco

I must tell you all to pay attention to the quality of trace elements. My long-term problem was a low-quality base of trace elements. Now I am building my own base from chinese chelates and have excellent growth.

If anyone in this thread is still around here is a question, Can I use Purecal as my main source of N. I can get my ratio to work out much better using that, but Iā€™ll have very little to no NH4+ in my mix. if I need to add a touch of NH4+ to help stabilize the PH during stretch or flower, what the best way or product to use to do that.

Iā€™ve never used PureCal before. I would say it depends what elemental ppm your Ca is at once you hit your target N numbers. I like to use CalPrime myself. You can easily hit your target Ca numbers and still have a little room to play with N such as adding a little NH4 so you have some ammonium in your mix.

Purecal is very similar to Calprime, Calprime has .3 NH4+ where Purecal has 0, so say 170ppm Ca Calprime will have a touch of NH4+ in it ,but total N ppm would be right about same in each. thats why I want purecal for better ratio.

I donā€™t see how it would be an issue then.

Not thinking it really be an issue more so if the NH4+ helps stabilize the PH, specifically in rockwool during the times of stretch etc, as I know its used for that. Are you still in coco. I donā€™t look like there is many guys left on here for a couple years ago

The NH4 does help to stabilize pH. I canā€™t tell you about rock wool as Iā€™ve never grown in it. Yep, still in coco but also doing a few soil runs for shits and giggles. Yeah, emdub disappeared. I wish I knew what he was up to now.

Hows your coco going, still liking it? were you able to get your brix up in it? and the flavor? I do really good in rookwool but it has a bit of a learning curve, A buddy I know has licence and wants to setup I think 15 or 20 but he doesnā€™t live right close so Iā€™m not going to be by his side a lot to help. They say coco is easier then rockwool so I was going to point him in that direction, but Iā€™m not really 100% sure if is. so curios to know how your doing in it.

The cocos doing great. Was able to increase brix a little and improve flavor with the addition of some supplements like aloe Vera juice and Mr. Fulvic. I thought about running a few rock wool cubes or blocks but I water by hand and didnā€™t want to get into setting up drippers and all that. Howā€™s the flavor running rock wool?

Yes very happy with flavor, good growth yield etc, but I ran RDWC for along time before rockwool, I thought or was hoping rockwool would grow/produce a little closer to what the RDWC did. thats kinda why I asked about the purecal and NH4, if that could be causing some PH issues in the root zone that Iā€™m not really picking up on. However Iā€™m not running any moisture meters , my watering is dialed in pretty good but its not going to be 100% with out meters. Not 100% sure if my nute ratioā€™s are 100% dialed in yet either , coming from rdwc I did have change them a fair bit. There is a fair bit of a learning curve to rockwool, I donā€™t think hand watering will cut it, thats why I suggested coco to my buddy .

I would say it is possible to be having a pH issue in the media. I remember when I was running the regular Ca No3 with minimal NH4 once the plants hit about week 5 of 12/12 I was chasing upward pH to no avail. Definitely had some micronutrient lockout. Thatā€™s why I like the CalPrime because you can add a little ammonium sulfate or something to increase your No3:NH4 ratio a bit.

Are you finding the rock wool has different nutrient ratio requirements?

Then my RDWC bucket system, yes
