Liquid Nitrogen Hash

I think the trick would be to put the plant in a bag/sock and then in to a micron bag of some sort but i guess my biggest question because I haven’t had the chance or work space to R&D with liquid nitrogen too much, do you just let it evaporate to get to your final product or is there a way to some how close loop and some how recover the off gassing ln2 back in to a storage tank??

Fuck recovering the ln2 just get a truck full

Been a few years, but I experimented with ln2 extraction. Used a stainless double sieve for honey like this:

https://www.amazon.com/VIVO-Stainless-Beekeeping-Equipment-BEE-V101H/dp/B00EHIWX1K/

The top pan is 1875 micron mesh and bottom bowl is 650 micron and would be placed above stainless bowl. Fresh cut flowers would be removed from large stems, loosely packed in ln2 dipper and lowered into wide mouth dewar for 30-45 seconds. Contents were dumped into strainer and immediately pulverized and pushed thru top screen with stainless pestle. I would quickly shake bowl and add a splash of ln2. Virtually all trichomes and certainly some plant material make it thru bottom mesh and collect in bowl. I was doing terpene extractions and would throughly dry both kief mixture and biomass leftover before ethanol extraction.

Is anyone using ln2 and fresh flowers in interesting ways???

I’ve seen a video of how 710labs used to do this that vice made years back like 2017. They would pour a bucket of fresh frozen buds on top of a massive(30+ gallon) vat of Liquid nitrogen and then raise a series of custom made screens for it. 190+, 120-189, 73-119 and then 24-72. It all came out white which explains how 710labs gets their persy rosin to be so white.

Edit: my high ass forgot to mention they describe why plant matter doesn’t get through in the video, they said something about the buds being able to float but the trichomes Cant so they sink

In case anyone is wondering there’s now equipment for this: https://cryomass.com/

ln2 Dewar and a few freeze dryers will do quite a bit of weight and cost next to nothing. That machine looks badass, so I assume the price tag is also.

It’s kinda crazy we don’t have more people doing post processing with ln2. Or atleast they don’t talk about it.

I don’t think that LN2 is something 710 lab uses and almost positive that’s not how they get perky rosin white

They just harvest really early with the correct strains

I found some strains will turn that gold yellow toward the beginning of the flowering. If as said you grab early and IMO just as the balls start to turn amber you can process or even press out some nice stuff. I always wondered though “and I have found many diff opinions and tests” depending on strain is how many cannabinoids you have when you take them early. I also wonder/feel how leaving them to stay way late like my buddy how much harsher it becomes and dark.

The other variable I found is is the strain in hydro/ dirt/ or combination and lighting will all effect the end result as well

In the end you will get an extract with high concentrations of cannabinoids because you are creating a concentrate. The difference between an early or late harvest will be the RATIO of terpenes to cannabinoids and the overall yield of extract produced. Obviously you will get a lower yield (less total extract produced) but it will be a higher terp:cannabinoid ratio (high terp %).
