Got an idea to get 24 plant count with michigan caregiver program. I wonder if this will be legal. Any help appreciated, sorry if this is the wrong place I’m new to posting.
24 plant count
4 main mother plants
2-16 grafts on each mother of rare breeder cuts/interesting phenos/landraces/other
4 flowering plants for personal use
16 plant-slots for rooted clones
Want to sell the clones for a nice price, totallt online with shipping. Similar to what strainly does, but my own place. I suppose the biggest questions I have is
- How can I do this totally ethically (beyond testing and permission from origin)
- How would paying my taxes work
- Do I need a license to sell clones legally? Is it require/recommended/nonessential?
I really appreciate any advice, I’ve been reading some of the sdp and other posts here, you guys are helpful. Please help me
- Best, a potential nursery/clones salemen (lol)
Update: found thishttps://www.michigan.gov/cra/-/media/Project/Websites/cra/bulletin/AU-and-MMFL-Bulletins/Marihuana_Sale_or_Transfer_-_Immature_Plant_Sales_731798_7.pdf, crrently reading thru!

Best to cross all your t’s & dot the i’s if you’re looking to long term it. But you’ll need to register for caregiver permit /nursery license and while doing so (if possible) claim as many patients as you can under your care but you’ll of course need the body count for caregivers to max out completely to be profitable imo to stay in the legal green area. LLC your business & get insurance on the build/ processing so you have a fall back for any liabilities you may encounter.
From what I’ve read it’s possible to do in Michigan, but you’ll need to cover all the bases with the state to sell publicly.
@AgTonik @HeisenbergInd any input?

First off, thanks for the fast reply.
Super appreciated! Unfortunately, the changed my caregiver laws. One patient only - WOW - way to mess up legal pot outside of dispensaries!
I’ll look into nursery licenses now. Thanks, I may be back!
Having trouble finding a CANNABIS nursery license. Is it for general agriculture?
In the aforementioned document, it states “Once a cultivator has achieved certification for GACP-GMP, they must submit a plan for the sale
of immature plants to the CRA at CRA-Compliance@michigan.gov before selling any immature
plants to a sales location” When they say “sales location” what exactly do they mean? If it is a sale to an individual, a customer, does that mean the GACP and GMP certificate is not needed?

I think there is a provision with MDARD to sell clones. I haven’t looked into the specifics.
Make sure you test EVERYTHING for HLVD. I wouldn’t want to get into the clone game because of it.

Clones should all test as “hemp”….
Certainly way more kosher that the “thca flower” and “compliant diamonds” some are running with.
See Eg: Where to get clones shipped to ohio?

Not to mention the russets, aphids, and powdery mildew that gets spread around. And how many viroid tests does it take over the lifetime of one plant…5-7?..which I would think still falls just shy of being 100% accurate.
To the OP, about the license, the easiest way is to just call the dept of ag or whoever oversees it in your state. In Illinois, there is a greenhouse/nursery license, but I found out I didnt need one for garden starts and flowers, as long as I didn’t overwinter any plants.
