I know their welder, and glass maker. Yes, some components are made in China, but to their spec. Like the PTFE wiper blades for example.

Deff not summit. Deff 100% infringement on patents.

Who’s chasing who

It came with a CRV16Pro from Welch. I upgraded to a CRV30Pro and then I connected them in series.

This was a cheap short term solution to help with throughput (which it did in fact help quite a bit). Once we continue to bring in more revenue I’ll upgrade to a proper setup with a leybold blower and really push the machine.

Yeah that all sounds about right. Definitely get that blower when you can, they’re the bee’s knees.

They even put the 16’s on their wiper!? What the fuck  I’ve Consulted on about 20 LS systems. I swear they slap that pump on everything from the 5L to the 22L.

Yes quite unfortunate. I have a feeling that the goal was to hit a specific price point. I was able to get the distillation system, pump, chiller, etc… for under 100k and I’m guessing their main reason for pairing that pump with the system was to hit a specific price point to consumers. I mean it worked but just means I had to do the upgrading myself.

Damn considering the green tax on all the other SS systems. That’s not bad. Especially considering how modular it is. The second I saw it I got excited just because I could modify the fuck out of it :man_facepalming:

Actually from a business perspective it’s not about price point really. It’s about selling bare minimum and then taking in the add-on sales and upgrades after when people are desperate for s bit more success … It’s a common sales technique. I sorta lean on the side of caution and just sell the correct pumps upfront. My two cents.

Sure, but when someone wants to sell me stuff that is under spec, you know what I do? I don’t buy from them again. If you are posting the manufacturing specifications for throughput but the manufacturer based them on a pump that moves 3x more air than the one you paired with it and then I wonder why my throughput isn’t anywhere close to mfg specifications, I have no desire to do business with them again.

Instead of buying through LS I go straight to Across International now. I need a new vacuum pump? I call welch directly, etc…

Anyway, I don’t want to get off topic on price points, and sales related stuff. Let’s keep this about the unit itself.
