The stem-derived and seed-derived framing that runs through this thread doesn’t describe Japan any more. Since 12 December 2024 the test is the residual d9 number in the finished product, measured against a limit that depends on the product’s physical form. Which part of the plant it came from stopped being the question.
Practical effect is that it cuts both ways. Material that would have failed the old framing can pass, and a full spectrum product people assumed was fine can fail, depending on what form it ships in. Oils and fats liquid at room temperature and powders get 10ppm, water solutions 0.1ppm, everything else 1ppm, and everything else includes gummies, vapes, balms and creams.
It also only applies to products containing CBD or CBG. Hemp seed oil and fibre sit outside it.
