Maybe the lemonade from this experience is figuring out a on-site test we can do to detect hi levels of lipid.

The test is literally to dissolve 1 gram of isolate into 10 ml of methanol

I have some isolate from commonwealth right now. I’ll check it for waxes and lipids in the next 24 hrs and let the forum know what’s up. I am very nervous right now to say the least. Mine looks very similar to @Stevenvhoang

I just paid for 10 kilos of distillate the other day from the exact same company, im worried as well. Can anyone else who has purchased chime in?
You could visibly see fats and lipids in disty prior to crystallization. I wouldn’t stress too hard.

I’ve made some crap 90-92% isolate that was full of fats. Was a major pain to clean up, multiple pentane crashes weren’t getting it clean.
Def felt waxy and smelled off as well

Methanol is lipophilic. So any cannabinoid mixture containing lipids being mixed with methanol will cause lipids to precipitate.
You mean that methanol is rather lipophobic then.

I got some iso about 5 months ago from Earth Industies that had 10% fats in it.

Last year or so we got some Isolate that looked perfect and then when put into formulation it was suupppperrrr waxy. Tested all good looked good but was total garbage.
Closer to 10% or closer to 50% lipids?

honestly I can’t remember but I remember it was a disaster and we didn’t even bother with trying to filter it after the first round. It was not from the supply mentioned in the thread though. I’ve never had any issues with the supply mentioned in this thread. Only good stuff.

At a 10-1 ratio some of the fats will stay soluble in Methanol. The ration needs to be closer to 5 or 6 to 1

I was dealing with the wax:CBD ratio in final product. I guess you are refering to a solvent:compound ratio here, right ?

I don’t think you should be blowing up someone’s reputation and demanding to return your purchase until you can prove your claims with lab results. It seems you’re back pedaling on how waxy this stuff really is after already telling everyone to grab their pitchforks. Just get the stuff tested.

pretty sure the test he’s doing showing excess fats is the test that’s relevant.
