ISO Teledyne CombiFlash Torrent (normal phase, not AQ Model)

Recently I’ve come to desire a CombiFlash Torrent for high capacity purification. These devices are obviously extremely expensive to buy new, and I reckon there are at least a couple labs out there who bought these years ago and realized its not the way to go for mass production of CBD/THC.

My intention is to heavily modify the device, which is why its kind of a shame to consider buying a new one just to rips its guts out and crudely shove new ones back in.

I recognize that most, if any, of these sold within the hemp industry are the reverse phase “Torrent AQ” models - which makes my search harder, since I actually need the normal phase model that is compatible with alkanes.

Yes, the preparative flash (low pressure) systems and automation certainly look interesting…

Other than bells and whistles it is just low-pressure , low theoretical plates achieved by use of large particle solid phase particles. (But high capacity).
You can do most of your experimental work with TLC systems perfecting choice of solid support and mobile phases.
It would be nice to find one or two surplus…but I can tell you the Teledyne Isco units are a rare commodity. Certainly there are far more Biotage units floating about that can do the same job.
What is it about the Teledyne - Isco you are so set on?
Perhaps you already have a bunch, all running?

Curious?

You do know that switching from normal phase to reverse phase system you are going to lose considerable mass capacity per run? It is just a price you will pay for going to reverse phase solid support.

I’m not running reverse phase, that’s for the birds.

It’s just the case that I’ve already done a bunch of work on Teledyne equipment so I’d prefer not to switch…but believe me, after dealing with scumbag Teledyne sales people I’m not opposed to Biotage. Biotage columns are more expensive however…but at least they don’t discriminate towards hemp companies lol

Curious…what are you trying to separate?
I assume cannabinoids?

I can’t really get into it, but yeah cannabinoids.

Where are you seeing used Biotage equipment?

There are “some” on eBay and lots of various supplies.

You mean to tell us you have something “SECRET” going on with cannabinoids?
We will have to bring in an Expert: @Roguelab .

O brother @eyeworm is more of a cannabinoid profesional than I will ever be no chance in competing
Sad but treu I am an average idiot in a garden shed that s all
A good reader of papers and financial losses are part of my game win some loose some
You @moronnabis are closer to his level that s for sure
Kind words yet you overestimate me and underestimate yourself

I’d wager novel (to this industry) rather than secret would be a better fit.

We all know that chromatography is the gold standard for cleaning up a synthesis…

I thought you may have referenced him at one time.

Like Euro-type “synthesis”.

Looking at the equipment he searching my gut tells me
Separation of racemic mixtures is his goal but time will tell

I have a prep size chiral HPLC column if any one is interested. Expensive.

I think he is just looking at normal. Phase….
Some things just benefit nicely with a column step.

Ahhh…not so “SECRET” ! Your 2021 post is some of the nicest chemistry I have seen ,

Varian Dynamax columns/system (scalable variations) and the older Prep Star SD1 pumps seem to be very available on eBay. You could achieve prep scale and higher separation efficiency.

Not Euro…Jersey style!
