Many people live in places where it’s hard to get brand CRC media, is it ok to use bleaching clay or activated carbon, that is used and meant in alcohol CRC?
yeah as long as you have proper filtration after the media so it doesnt get into your extract its fine. people have even used kitty litter.

If you happen to be in a country where costs prohibits importing name brand adsorbents you can start by testing your locally available media options by combining 1 part crude oil to 5-10 parts solvent(this will be similar to the concentration during filtration in most cases), then mix with various adsorbents at a concentration of 1 part initial crude oil to 1 part adsorbent adding a known amount more adsorbent and mixing after each addition until you reach your desired remediation or have concluded no amount of the chosen adsorbent will function as desired. This can be done with very small samples.
You’ll find you’re looking for at least thermally activated, but preferably also acid activated, bleaching clay. If working with carbon you’ll still want a bed of clay or something similar to Celite545 to fully filter out residual carbon. Getting all the carbon back out of a solution can take a few passes.
If you just need to find something more affordable than some of the name brands we also ship worldwide and affordability is at the core of our business model.
