Is agitating heptane with compressed air stupid?

Hey

I’ve got a couple of vessels that I’m tea bagging in RT heptane

I feel like maybe this was answered somewhere before but I don’t remember.

Was looking for a way to agitate, I don’t have a pump at the moment.

Was thinking of using a compressor in another room, with some long tubes coming out, and then just bubbling air to agitate my solvent and biomass mixture.

Is the air moving through a line going to potentially generate a spark? The compressor would be 20-30 feet away from the extraction area.

you’re going to end up with heptane in your air.

We always lifted the bags to let them drain for 2 seconds and dunk again. You can set up a hoist system to make it easy

Huffing gas is… Bad?

Yeah that was my plan. But trying to process 50+ lbs per hour LOL. Trying to make things a bit more efficient

I would suggest not doing this. Without a good filter and dryer, the air you pump in will be contaminated with pump oil and water. Even with those in place, there are probably better ways. Why risk your solvent and end product for a few minutes of time saved?

I always avoid using air to push or agitate mainly because thats adding 2 parts of a 3 part bomb to a vessel.

Please use an inert gas like Ln2 or co2 or argon & be safe, we’ve lost too many ppl already bro

Maybe this could help ? its very economical
