figured collecting the pieces might be appropriate

Hey @Izambard_K_Brunel it’s like our ‘french pull’ from a couple days ago!
How hard would it be to mod a stationary bike for 'fuge power?
nearly impossible…as even a world class cyclist only spins the cranks at about 120 rpms.
i dont even think a normal person can generate enough watts to power a centifudge…so bike powered is gonna have to be a no…
But with a hundred tooth chainring and a ten tooth sprocket…hm wheres sheldon brown when you need him lol
i learned a lot about wheel building from his website.
The gear calculator is priceless and the inspiration his o.t.b. bike tho…nuts
pedal powered air compressor to run an air spindle
I’m all up for eco friendly power but I’m more for a victorian approach and making things far more dangerous than they need to be.
I feel what we need is solar stills, super heated steam and turbines.
I think it would be spectacular !
This alternator from a 1979 Honda Civic needed about 1800rpm
This desktop fuge is at least 60 years old. Spins the rotor as you see it.
You are a madman
That’s just one of my early “electric bikes” (circa 2013)
More sophisticated than the first one, where we mounted a shopping cart wheel to the alternator, and just ran that against the stationary bike tire. (Circa 1997)
As for the fuge, I might be able to talk the current owner out of it if I claimed I was gonna make it pedal powered…but that was not what I was trying to imply.
Just that gearing a bike up & getting 300W out of a monkey can be achieved🤓
you savage
This is exactly the level of kludge brilliance I’ve come to expect of you
Kludge you say?
Try starting a car with a stationary bike…(I suspect this was a fail. Don’t recall). Guessing the power was out.
.
Running a Zap bike motor backwards. USB, 1.5V (AA &AAA) charger, and 19V for a laptop too.
The one with the alternator in it also has 110V out. Given it requires a battery to run the alternator, it could probably power a panda… at least intermittently.
Edit: note that it has an actual cigarette lighter. So that one can pedal up fire if need be… I prefer using DC generators because you don’t need 12V to get things started.
The 1997 build also did not require 12V, but I’m unclear how we managed that, I believe it required a specific alternator AND getting it up to speed.
Ok … no joke, give me a few months.
i will make a solar still with a steam turbine.
The bar is set ! lol
The knocking is just because its cold lolol
Its been a long weekend, had some difficulties but here’s my progress so far.
I think by next weekend i will have it up and running.
You cant really see me, im underneath at the back measuring my end play.
That’s a real pretty turbomolecular you got there man
This is fucking gold lol
