Is a 4x48 filter dryer a bad idea?

Doing a few system changes, got a 4x48 spool not in use, would filter dryer that big be a bad idea?

Do it, less frequent changes

Good idea less frequent changes as @Intergalactic sugest and a less ubsttructed vapor path :+1:

Only problem I had with a 6x36 spool was that the long time between swaps often meant it got neglected. It would take until somebody noticed water/ice/color before they’d remembered the molsieve has not been changed in 6 weeks.

When I got there they weren’t even noting the date it was last changed…

Sounds like you need CMMS, to ensure maintenance tasks are done on time and the work done is captured.

Continuous Maintenance Management Software. There are some fairly cheap subscriptions out there, but it requires developing an inventory of all equipment.

It’s an offshoot of GMPs called GEP (good engineering practices). You will know every type of problem every piece of equipment has and how it has been fixed previously. Hit me up and I’ll see if I can help out.
