Internal Journal: Future's Pesticide Remediation Tek

Getting it thanks @Photon_nior I suppose my last question is about the %33 percent with the 3x washes. Would all three of these have the same pH, or would it be 3x at different pH for the acid, base, and neutral wash?

I have 5 acres that is positive for spinosad. Can any one point me to a processor that could help.

It depends entirely on the stuff you want to extract (and whether or not water is present, of course). Assuming the wash liquid is aqueous (having water), AND that the ā€œjunkā€ solute’s solubility in the aqueous phase is affected by pH (and its solubility in the original non-polar will not be improved by reacting it with acid or base), AND that the desired substances in the non-polar phase remain unaffected by said acid or base, only THEN is is okay or reasonable to play with pH.

I still haven’t slept, so at this point I don’t even remember what we are talking about washing… but brine (heavy saltwater) can be used to eliminate emulsion (as long as there is no surfactant, like sodium citrate salt present) and to dehydrate the non-polar phase (from prior aqueous washes or water from wherever) after all previous aqueous washes are complete. Sometimes salt can be added to the acidic or alkaline pH adjusted aqueous wash solutions, in order to keep emulsion to a minimum on all washes… this is really only necessary when one is working with a small precious volume that has a high tendency to emulse.

Pulling myclo with a brine wash is what I was attempting. As per the SOP for Pesticide Remediation. So the wash liquid would be aqueous and I believe the myclo is water soluble. Im sure the salt helps keep the something in the pentane solution from emulsifying.

Ah, yes. Myclo, the old bear. It’s actually more soluble in alcohol, which is why louching is so effective.

The salt in the water increases its polarity by presence of the electrolyte. So it actually just makes the water less ā€œstickyā€ in a non-polar emulsion situation. Also, technically the water being brine level salty makes it more attractive to itself, so that it can even remove the little bit of water that may remain dissolved in the non-polar under normal circumstances… brine literally acts as a drying agent for the non-polar phase!

Makes a lot of sense definitely want to keep the pentane as dry as possible, Im sure that helps keep a neutral pH. What about myclo and louching in alcohol?

Hey guy, I hope this is the right thread to ask for some insight . I’m currently in the process of trying to clean some distillate that tested HOT for (sum)Premethrins 9.5ppm , cis-Permethrin 5.9 , trans-Permethrins 3.6ppm and PBO 3.2 ppm ,It’s a nightmare I know!! I was able to get rid of the PBO using the methods mentioned above (liquid 2 liquid/ magsil-pr chromatography/2nd distillation) . I was wondering if I would need to do a reverse phase chromatography for that kind of pesticide . I just hoping someone in our great community can help me out

Look up ā€œloucheā€ or ā€œlouchingā€ or other variants of the word. It’s all here… even in the original myclobutanil remediation tek, in which I advised @Future how to use the technique to advantage.

As for permethrin, @Srgeo420, it should be sensitive to a whole host of chemistries, having that dibenzyl ether and that severely strained cyclopropyl group in it. I don’t know how the lab is defining the cis and trans isomers, because the main 2 (of the 4) used for pesticides are both both cis and trans! The cis,cis and trans, trans are not normally used.

Whoever is using it should stop, however, because permethrin is a very broad spectrum insecticide that can kill just about any insect that touches it! So it kills all sorts of beneficial insects! Especially with PBO, which is not actually an insecticide, but a sort of enzyme inhibiting drug used to make the insecticides more poisonous… kinda like how MAOIs make many psych meds poisonous to humans!

And PBO is honestly one of the dumbest compounds of all to use on cannabis grown for THC! Get this; not only does it have very little of the cytochrome P450 enzyme inhibiting activity in humans (which would slow down the metabolism of 90% of all drugs, including THC) that it has in insects, but PBO DOES ANTAGONIZE (i.e. BLOCK) THE CB1 RECEPTOR IN HUMANS!!! YOU KNOW, THE ONE THAT THC NEEDS TO GET YOU HIGH!?!? See here:

PBO is found to be an efficacious, low-potency, neutral antagonist of G-protein-coupled CB1 receptors.[9]

On top of all this horribleness, permethrin and PBO is a very common combination and BOTH are perniciously difficult to actually remove from cannabinoid products! The best you can usually hope for is to destroy them enough to be unrecognizable by analysis. Otherwise, lots of yield-eating activated charcoal and/or magsil PR column filtration is needed to get the last of it out!

Cheebachiefs…could I ask to see your pesticide SOP?

It’ll be formatted soon

Much appreciated in advance

Anyone here have any experience remediating Azoxystobin? I’ve never encountered it before but recently had some crude test hot for it, so trying to figure out the best way to get rid of it.

Does anyone know how to Remediate Piperonyl Butoxide aka PBO. We had our last grower use A fogger and it left residue on the Air handlers and AC system so we have been hitting rooms hard with 03 to try and get the PBO out. We know our material is testing for PBO under the Limit but want to get it out. I figure because its not water soluble I am gona have to just use MagSil-PR. Does anyone have experience with this. Thanks In advance Yall.

Anyone have a suggestion that can help with Chlorfenapyr? any trick aside from reverse phase C18? Appreciate it in advance!

Hey hows it? I was wondering if you were able remediate pyrethrine?

image I successfully remediated all these pesticides to 0ppb with this methodimage

Looks like this method works good for abamectin. This site is awesome
