yeah, but this is Cannabis.
we can call CO2 a hydrocarbon AND solventless without batting an eyelid.
some CO2 guys will even claim “solventless” to their customer base after winterizing in ethanol!!!

Official correction to this erroneous statement here - Thar is hydrocarbon free and has been since it introduced the first Prep SFC 200 in 1996:
Thar Process runs SFCs in our USDA Certified Organic facility. So - NO - we don’t use ‘hydrocarbon’ solvents - we use corn ethanol (not denatured) or USDA Organic ethanol from sugar beets.
The FDA requires that we use GRAS solvents and we comply. For those who don’t know, that’s the official acronym for Generally Regarded As Safe. Ethanol and CO2 are considered safe solvents (except for denatured ethanol).
The first SFC from Thar Process rolled out after the 8/19 departure of the post author. Some history though, Thar Instruments (spin-off of Thar Tech) sold 100’s of these to Big Pharma from 1996 to 2009 then sold to the company to Waters. Thar Process, Inc. launched its own larger scale SFC product line and installed the first Isolator SFC 10 system in Dec 2019 and later the SFC 20 and 60 models.
The Isolator SFC 10 and two Isolator SFC 60s are shown by our customer Peak Season Botanicals : Process | Peak Season Botanicals
that Peak Seasons facility must’ve cost like $10MM. I’m jealous but also unclear how they’re gonna pay that all off.
I thought the hemp way was to overextend credit and shaft the investors when you inevitably implode??
I wish they’d invest in me. I know how to spend their money better.
Hahaha don’t we all??
company mandated jordans/24k cuban links still a better investment than CO2/chromatography I reckon
But that is the thing, alkanes and alcohols are fundamentally different molecules. A Hydrocarbon refers to a molecule that only possesses hydrogen and carbon atoms, whereas an alcohol posses a hydroxyl functional group attached to a hydrocarbon backbone. In addition, literally every organic molecule is derived from hydrocarbons so being less specific imo actually increases confusion.
CO2 assisted chromatography produces excellent isolation of minors like CBT and CBC. I personally have been looking for a lab who has time to isolate a few sesquiterpenes from hemp crude/terpenes as there’s no existing botanical source for them naturally.
That pricetag isnt so bad when considering the solvent recovery costs and consumable costs you deal with when using other platforms. I mean, cartridges’ alone can run up to $10k every few weeks… At that price, the extraktLAB unit pays for itself in less than a year… Unless you prefer collecting 200g per hour… Have you asked them for chromatograms?
Call it hydrocarbon free. Calling it solvent free is stupid and a lie.
I dont know if its total BS. I have seen the same column packing used for about six months, with daily runs, and the cuts are as clean as they were on the first run.
Allow us to clear up some confusion.
*Ethylene glycol has never been used in the Nemadji facility, ever.
*The dark colored distillate that was provided in the early days was produced using chemtech and pope WFEs. Those systems needed constant repairs to keep up with capacity, leading to delays in production. There was absolutely nothing wrong with the quality of the oil.
@Rowan have you ever done everything you can to make your clients happy and get taken advantage of for your troubles?
At extraktLAB we are a reliable resource for the industry.
We provide equipment, services, and content to help people succeed.
We have always wanted the industry to move forward and help others along the way.
Nemadji is still providing high quality cannabinoids, isomers, and hemp processing services.
If anyone would like to visit the extraktLAB facility or give us a call and talk more about it, feel free to reach out. We are pretty open about having guests.
Don’t hate on CTS and Pope lol I’ve run three kd6s side by side for weeks straight without issues running BHO crude. Between Pope and KD units, I’ve personally made 1000s of liters. They break when you don’t treat your feedstock right. And the mantra of distillate goes garbage in garbage out unless you want to play the filtration game.
this is the first time I’ve ever heard someone shit talk KD… plenty of shit talked about pope
So these contaminants- how and why?
Oil from Nemadji.
This is one example of many, yall were cooking poop soup out there
ethyl acetate… did they use that for extraction? does anyone use that for extraction?
Idk they claim to use co2 and talk down on people using “solvents” but its clear that they are one of the more full of shit outfits in the industry.
They ran multiple farmers out of business by refusing to release product in time to sell product and buy seeds for their next season, total fiasco.
I try to keep it civil as much as possible lately but the way extraktlab makes false claims and tries to re-write industry terminology while being so poor in delivery just makes me ass itch.
No material has left Nemadji in that condition.
Can we see the chain of custody papers they were provided?
Yeah it left your facility and went directly to accelerated analytical, don’t even kid yourself boyo
