Hey I was wondering if it had to be a 1micron filter or if a 5micron filter would work?

5 micron works. It’s all I use.

just wanted to show people the flow…LOL same client as i posted above… On his real system, not a test system.

He just upgraded from 4" 1 micron crc to 6" 1 micron crc on his system and look at the flow difference. This dude has been using my shitty alcohol 5 micron sintered disc(not reenforced) since last march which i refused to sell.

This is the look when you stage your filtering properly. T5/Silica combo

4ā€ 1 micron

Now for the 6ā€ 1 micron

No appions were used in this video. LOL

We haven’t experienced any flow issues through our CRC. In fact this is us scaling back flow a little to make sure it is not channeling thru the absorbants/powders.

6"x12" Jacketed (heated) CRC with 100g AA, 200g Silica, 400g T5. 6" 2 micron sintered filter. We run a total of 64lbs Fresh Frozen material thru CRC. Fully passive recovery btw. About 50 PSI pushing thru CRC. 70/30 butane/propane blend.

That flow looks perfect, its about what my flow was when I used a 3" crc column, and i was using 3-4 medias at that time, now with the 6" I have to slow it down to stop it from flowing too fast. Pretty much if you can’t get to 80% of the stream that you had before crc there are improvements that can be made.

Whatcha using now, if you can share? I’m using @Waxplug1’s medias and am liking em so far.

Your work always impresses me btw.

Thanks!! I just switched companies and am doing stuff a lot different up here in ME but i was using t5 and silica 60 occasionally I’d use t-41 or AA but it was pretty rare, I was going through a 3" crc because they wanted a very clear or white product so I needed more media residence time. Can’t wait to try the w1 i have heard great things so thats my next experiment but its going to be a bit before i can do any.

That’s right, I did see you mentioned you were moving from CO.

Congrats on the move man, wpelcome out east! I moved out this way from CO about 3 years ago now. I miss the sun lol.

I definitely like wax’s powders, and I can’t wait to see your work again!

i really think if its done right. It really shouldnt impede your speed at all. Packing the powders certainly take time. Adding another piece to the puzzle and cleaning takes time but the physical extraction should probably take no more than 5 mins extra which is really the time needed to prime the powders if you arent presoaking the powders in solvent.

Id say 80-90% of my clients have to slow the flow a little. Especially moving to a bigger crc. We are still in the infancy stage of this despite the 8000 post of this thread. this is just barely a year old.

Nice are you working with @GreenTruckExtracts?! Congrats @Griffin.Labs!!

@The_Lone_Stiller Thanks, I was stoked for the opportunity, the quality they strive for is exactly what I am about, definitely keep an eye out for us! @Killa12345 exactly, its really awesome to see it coming around so that people are doing it on a production level.

What gas was used here brother?

almost positive he uses isobutane…

So with these high flow rates, how much nitrogen pressure is behind the push?

I have less than desirable flow. I attribute it to a tight column pack, loading powders under vacuum, and using felt for a 2" depth filter. I push with 60psi of nitrogen. I’m convinced my depth filter needs a higher pressure for increased flow.

Try 90psi, this is the highest I have ever had to go.

30-50 psi active

I just did a run with b80 only, 1.5 spool, felt on bottom, with a .5 micron sinter under and has to throttle my valves at 50psi. Collection tank in cold water only.

I don’t use the felt vertically anymore either. Just punching discs out and using a filter paper with one of them fancy rings you made me to hold it all down under the powders. It works perfect.

Here’s my crc now. It’s little, but works great for qp runs.
