Last time I did that was years ago, so I’m not surprised it’s outdated and bad advice lmaoo
not exactly bad advice , but impractical and overkill for the situation. And I would argue your own house with a PC you have complete control over would be actually safer . there’s a lot of nuances and different ways to skin a cat @terplord420
Overkill and protecting your identity?
@soicythecliq hahaha
NGL it was one of the smartest things I’ve read suggested (giving concept to Library security being so mids)
Think about it. Youre going out in public, on camera, on record using a computer that could possibly store data or could have risk someone simply looking over your shoulder and seeing the wrong thing or picture and making a call to the police or telling the front desk. You lack control of the environment. And again, the library is where the creator of silk road was tracked and arrested.
soure- google:
“On October 1, 2013 , the Federal Bureau of Investigation arrested Ulbricht at the Glen Park branch of the San Francisco Public Library and accused him of being the “mastermind” behind the site.”
All it takes is 1 library employee to happen to glance over and see your custom OS boot screen that looks like the matrix. they will be wondering wtf you’re doing on their computer.
Using an encrypted laptop with windows in the security of your cozy home is the meta. If you are selling or more than a casual buyer, you can go ahead and install TAILS on a USB and go to a Starbucks or something with your OWN LAPTOP, but that’s not the situation here. This is a casual buyer.
I’m happy to further debate this, I’m no rookie to say the least. I know what I’m doing and know all about the different security paths to use the DN. @XDinF4200jail
they knew to follow him, that wasn’t just a random glance
No such thing as too paranoid in the stoner communities lol
I know that how he was caught, just mentioning he regularly used the library, and it made no difference in his security.
trust me I know more than you guys on this subject. Yall are good at what you do but as far as this goes, idk.
Being paranoid is fine, but think of it this way, it is akin to buying a bank vault to protect $500 inside. Will it hurt? No. Will it make it safer? sure. Is it practical or necessary? No. @XDinF4200jail
