IES CO2 Extraction going out of business?

that makes more sense…pretty sure that (those two) could be outmaneuvered to drive the Haskel without having to reprogram the PLC…I’d actually need to play with one to be certain.

do you have access to schematics?

Question

I forgot my PLC password, what are my options?

Answer

If the password is lost or forgotten, you will have to return the PLC to AutomationDirect, to get the password cleared. The CPU contents will be erased when we clear the password, there is not a way to retrieve the project.

You’re almost certainly correct.

Here’s the manual for the IES 5L/10L/20L

@Lincoln20XX, @greenbuggy the user manual posted by @SuperKamiGuru above does contain the relevant P&ID’s

A quick look tells me it’s a pretty simple system - it’s only got four fluid/process circuits, and everything appears to be well labelled.

Those P&IDs look like they’ve got enough to build out a new control system for it, which would of course allow for swapping of pumps etc.

No electrical schematics though, unless I missed them.

You’re probably looking at a very solid week worth of research, programming, and other not-hands-on work to get it ready to be turned on. Assuming whoever is building it already has a good library of controls that just need to be configured for and pointed at your system.

Then there’s the PLC swap and panel fuckery, which would be in theory not too terrible, but I’d want to budget not less than a week on-site so I could trace, verify, validate, and test everything.

Depending on jurisdiction, you may want the local NRTL / UL person to come in and bless/stamp it.

So realistically once you account for contingency, you’re looking at three dedicated weeks of work to get it back up and running.

And I didn’t really consider the HMI in that. That could be a fair headache as well.

And I don’t know anyone competent who does that kind of work cheap… or at least, not anyone you want to trust with programming a few thousand PSI bomb.

With how few $ CO2 systems are commanding these days, there’s little reason to pay someone to re-invent this particular wheel.

Wait until another Q90 hits the auctions, throw $20k at them, now you’re good to go.

… or cross your fingers and try the system password “2424” that’s listed in the manual.

IMO you could tie the two outputs together to a timer (I happen to like the Allen Bradley 700 FEM3T’s though they’ve been superseded) with a short off-delay, that would give you a dry contact to trigger whatever you want to use to run a different pump like a Haskel or a VFD if you wanted to do a driver more like what the Extraktlab systems do

I left IES four year ago, no, I do not have access to any IP.

Try looking through old lab books, inside the doors of the machine, and if needed, see where the fingerprints are on the screen where the buttons load up.

The Machine is located about half an hour from Byron. I believe we have the passwords and we are considering paying for you to come and teach us. Can we do a zoom call at some point to figure out if it is feasible for you to fly out, or figure out the best way to move forward.

Just sent you a DM

From what I have heard, they are on their death bed. Pretty much all of the Agrify subsidiaries are. Might have some trouble getting into contact with them, fingers crossed though. Wish I could help, but we don’t dabble in CO2 Extraction equipment. Good luck!

This wasn’t part of the agrify deal

Apeks was purchased by Gibraltar for 12 mil in 2019 cast off to IES 4 years later

Uploading a couple of pictures I found from old IES emails. They sent us these pictures one time and it looks like we can kinda get an idea of what seals we will need to outsource some replacement parts. Unfortunately i dont have any measurements of any of the shown parts.

Hi All,

Currently working on a retrofit solution utilizing Haskel and a software update as well. Offering the fabrication also. Looking forward to helping out. Feel free to DM and I will keep you updated on timeline.

@Innovatech Where are you based out of? Did you have any personal connection to IES?

Im gonna say this a new account of someone who already posted in this thread already and sees an opportunity to make a dollar

Does that mean you have the PLC password?

Or are you starting from scratch?!?

Dude, I just rebuilt one of these pumps and everything you’re saying makes so much sense.

You could really help a lot of people out figuring out a repeatable way to replace the boosters with haskel H-drives.

Why don’t you do that?

I do not have any passwords, IP or anything. I quit working for IES 4 years ago.
