ICE WATER bubble hash questions

Can anyone point me in the correct direction and let me know if the bubble hash is coming out the correct color and why the press is so dark. That is the starting material which is fresh frozen .

A lot of variables to go through here on the hypothetical…

What strain…what kind of trichome maturity was at .harvesting.
How long did harvesting take
What temp and how long was it frozen

Then begins YOUR hash SOP… we dont know how you got your end result.

We also dont know your set up. We dont know the size of your bags. We dont know the amount of bag’s used
. We dont know the micron that you selected to press. We dont know how you dried it. We dont know if you microplaned it or if you freeze dried it…

We dont know what kind of press you were operating on. We dont know which bags you used or how you folded them. We dont know what temp you pressed. Nor how long or at what pressure and durations.

Help us out man. Jeez.

Think he may of been asking what micron bag of the hash you’re using. Most people are generally pressing the 70-120 for rosin, and keeping 40-70 for bubble hash. If you mix them all together may lead to some dark results.

What was the ambient temperature wherever this was washed? How many times was the material washed and for how long? If you dm me your sop happy 2 offer advice.

I would try a press @ 155F since colour is a concern.

This is where you fucked up. You’re not running “fresh frozen” your running product that was frozen fresh and stored for over a year then extracted.

This is EXACTLY why you have very dark colored hash & squish.

The ambient temperature is 65F.
This is the results from the first wash.

That’s the worst news yet:sob::sob::sob: 8000 units of fresh frozen down the drain ?

If it’s from last year it ain’t fresh no more, so yeah basically the only thing it’s usable for is distillate at this point. All your volatiles and palatable compounds are degraded at this point.

300 seconds is a bit long in my opinion since that’s about 5 minutes of total squish time. I usually top out at 2 to 2:30 mins personally. Temp seems a-ok, maybe a bit low but still in the sweet spot. What pressure are you hitting? Ambient temp is pretty high, you want to wash in a cold room - the colder the better. I like at least 45f but as I said, colder the better. I am thinking the purple you’re getting is largely anthocyonins and can potentially be washed out but in the actual bubble hash washing process as i’ve worked a lot of material that gave me straight up grape kool aid water but never transferred over to anything when it came to hash output because as you can see in your rosin presses you’re not getting that purple hue so that’s a good thing at least because if you’re getting purple in your output press it’s still wet and anthos transfer over with moist material strangely enough. What bags are you using for your washing? I am thinking a lot of the anthos you are seeing are actually fluffy plant material that’s essentially dyed purple from the anthos seeping into it and not straight hash itself. For example, even though I have a 220 micron filter bag over my pump I also run my water through a 190 micron ‘garbage bag’ so I get any trash out of there before I bring it down to usually a 120 micron bag and then usually a 45 micron bag as I think 25 micron bags catch more trash than anything else but this is all strain dependent and usually for a first wash I use the full set of bags to see what microns will be in most use and what quality comes out of it. I would say your rosin press bags micron is dead on, maybe double bag it next time though so it not just has blowout protection but it’s got sort of a cage that stops any stretching from occurring thusly giving you a cleaner product. I’ve made plenty of really really nice rosin with year old FF as long as it never warmed up even for a few minutes in between freezing and using it for washing. Even if you harvested late and the trichs are dark you will likely still make great rosin jam or rosin carts if you wash it with care and keep it as clean as possible. Those both usually come out with a degree of tint, especially the jam so I wouldn’t say all hope is lost by a long shot - you just need to be creative and bust your ass to see what works in your situation.

What a generous and useful reply. I hope OP can use it to make something out of this material.
