HWT+Tankless heater for recovery

Yeah but did you see the flow rate on that thing? 40gpm?

I agree it’s unnecessary but that’s probably why it sooo much

Home units work fine to a level, but it all depends on if you’re running 24/7 and if you need it for a commercial application or hobbyist/craft volume. Flow rate is really important to be able to maintain a set temp in your process and home units won’t keep up as well.

I’m pretty sure the Rheem Commercial 199k BTU units are around $2k.

Really? I can’t find an electric tankless heater from Rheem with comparable spec for 2k. Even their gas heaters at 199k btu start at over 4k.

I have 55 gallon house one’s which is about 2/3 more water than the machine holds and ran with $100 ebay inline booster pumps. Runs like it owes money

Sorry, I was referncing the gas ones. Last time I costed them they were about 2k, though it’s possible they’ve gone up substantially since then.

Edit: just checked and it looks like they’re still sitting around $2k cad.

Your an angel budday
You guys are working on a software patch for my chillers right now. Maybe they can figure this out too

I have a grundfos hot water pump. Considering making a diy hot liquor tank out if an igloo cooler and a some fittings but I’m not sure if that’s a smarter solution than buying a mash tun with a valve.

Used stainless is abundant at the moment…

…and rectangular and well insulated is often a real bonus

I was able to scrap together a garden hose connected to the outlet of a cooler drain port which primes the pump. Just not sure if that garden hose fitting should be swapped for something else.

That’s a good looking manifold, did you build that? Looks a lot like the radiant floor heat manifolds I used to build.

I wanted to build out a quick disconnect manifold like that, but the fittings for like 5 site were $1200 … got a splitter and a 7kw heater and pump
