They both look great with the only difference being the LED side needs a different nutrient recipe from traditional bulbs. That room will be coming down next week so I will have some numbers then. I saw a large commercial grow that incorperated LED/CMH throughout the grow with nice results. They have a video on youtube I am going to get a link to.
Yup led usage required more cal-mag supplementation.
Big time. GH came out with a calcium nitrate + micros that I like right now.
i was just thinking of wanting to make a grow space when i get the space with mixed Lumatek Zeus 600W LED panels and CMH on light rails, minimum 2 rails side-by-side running out of wack of eachothers 2-3 lamps on each rail.
I LOVE the roller system, especially how they clean it , but hate the overall cost of rock wool.
I’ve always done sea of green in 6x6 blocks though. $$$
Definitely interested in seeing the weight and thrichome comparison between the two, assuming you ran the same ladies. Shoot the numbers over when you get them
THOSE TABLES ARE DOPE!!
I skimmed through the video, but I didnt hear them mention anything about their lighting for the flower room.
How long you been running those Hydrocrunches? I saw them and considered picking them up.
A little over a year now. Work great and only had one bulb burn out which the company replaced they have pretty good/fast customer service. Really keeps the heat down with them being enclosed
Looked like the lighting was a mix of LED and probably CMH. Looked like COB LEDs, I think. No idea what brand. Nice setup either way.
I finally found some glasses for full spectrum white LED’s. Method 7 came out with the LEDfx line specifically for full spec LED lights, and they are recommended for CMH as well. They are supposed to block UV and IR, and work well outdoors as well. Been waiting for this for a while.
I ordered a pair of Cultivator FX to try out. Just noticed their warranty will even let you trade in a scratched up used pair for a new pair of equal model at half price. Makes spending the money a little easier on some of their nicer models.
I’ve had 2 harvests under my belt since switching over to the CMH 315s and I’m very impressed with the results. My plants are finishing one week earlier than they were under HPS which caught me off guard. Yield is up, terp profile is different (in a good way), yield is higher on the extracts too. Nothing else changed, still growing the same strains as before.
I noticed my veg time got cut by 1 week. I havent noticed my flower time being any less.
Jump on the new L2 strips from samsung. They only come in 1 and 2 ft though.
Switched from HPS to QB LED, was first time switching over to them from HPS. Yield is about same and the trichome buildup looks noticeably thicker and denser. I switched grow rooms and plants between the two systems and didn’t test on same plants.
If I had money to burn for 1k HPS in 5x5 I’d run them in two isolated rooms to see the difference. Overall my patients have loved the transition. If the plants has a airy bud type look, I think LED makes them look worse.
Planning on switching 1 HPS to CMH and put it on mover. Wonder if I will get more oil resin production if I supplement that light during noon-sunset time setting.
LED don’t have strong UV and IMO ran 1 plant under supplement UV. The look was picked up in two blind tests by my friends. Something to consider in the hunt for more oil soaked ladies.
I’ll see if I got some photos to upload later.
@clouds
Or any led guys
I need a led strip. It needs to be decent for my side pots. They only get side lighting from my hoods.
It needs to light up a spot 5’ x 3’ for 4-6 plants.
If you’re looking for something that’s plug and play, I’d say an qb240 kit from hlg, or alibaba if you can deal with shipping times.
I find the new boards with the red led’s aren’t worth the extra money if you go directly to hlg though. I’d just get the old boards.
I just need something to shed a wee bit more light over my side pot and tester area. Currently those only get light from the edges of my main area.
I figure 6oz more is better than growing panda film (the floor).
Something simple, not a lot of amps. Even a 2 bulb 4’ t8 could work.
I second curious_miner’s alibaba Suggestion, it’s where I got mine. I run 1000 watts of various leds (seller: kingbrite). They do strip lights as well for pretty cheap, but I find that the sweet spot for value is their all white qb288 boards. Delivery has never taken more than 6 days If they have everything in stock.
I’ve had good experience with Atreum Lighting quantum boards. Their Ara strips got pretty good results on the Migro YouTube channel if you’re wanting something that doesn’t have to ship internationally.
