How to make dry ice evaporate quickly?

So I did a closed loop run yesterday evening and it went perfectly. I got rid of as much Acetone out of the cooler I used out of the spout and capped the cooler half way. It’s outside and there’s rain and snow coming tomorrow.

My question is how do I make the dry ice evaporate quickly / safely dispose of it.

Should I put the dry ice in a contractor bag and leave it in the cooler?

Lol maybe I’ll just sit outside and have the lid off tomorrow and pretend I’m a witch in front of cauldron. No but for reals :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:. Is there anything I can use other than water?

Throw it outside on the ground?
Unless ur in alaska, canada or antartica, it should be gone in a couple of hours if spread thin.
My favorite though by far is a big bath of hot water, or if u have a jacuzzi, DO THAT! But make sure to get any pets out of there, depending on air movement in ur backyard, there might be no oxygen the first 2 feet in ur whole backyard.
I did this with 50lbs of dry ice in about a 30 gallon bucket of hot water. It covered the whole back yard with a thick fog. Backyard is about 2000sq feet.
The trick isnt to dump the whole thing in, put a couple of handfuls in first to get the bubbles going then start dumping it in, or else u might get some back splash and that could be bad if u got the water as hot as i did
What happens when u throw some into a firepit???
Or a fireplace and close that bitch up. Would ur house just be shooting 10 foot fog out the chimney?
Now i just wanna buy some to play…

My bathroom is connected to my back balcony, so there’s a big ol’ storm door. What about the fact that Acetone had been ran over the dry ice.

That might make it explosive  scratch the hot fire idea

Dry ice bombs can be fun… I actually saw my first one in my chemistry class in high school on a demo on the triple point.

Vinegar seems to make it sublimate super quick

There’s probably about that still in the cooler.

Airgas’s stock is still way up, go put a PUT order in since they don’t need nearly as much dry ice as previously thought. What I’m trying to say, basically, is that your ice has value for a few days, cash in on it now until people realize there won’t be a huge shortage lol.

Why do you want it to evaporate quickly? That takes away all the fun of watching it sublimate! Which is an amazing word by the way. Go find a pond, get a little boat with all your dry ice, dump it in the pond, and pretend you’re on Mighty Bloosh: Old Greg episode.

It’s raining out. Should I open the top of the cooler all the way :relaxed:

Why get rid of this? Why not instead make ice cream or something? I have made ice cream with mine. Good ice cream - just make sure your mixer has a tight seal.

Acetone icecream? :face_vomiting: i know its not direct contact but most ice cream makers arent sealed

I have a kitchen aid ice cream mixer. Its got two seals, one on the side and one around the locking cap. The dry ice sits in the basin, its not even close to the seals…

Fastest, most best ice cream. If you can make consumer products in a closed system… why can you not make ice cream? <3

Mostly just because your average dry ice source wouldn’t really be considered food grade. :face_vomiting:
