Looking for some practical advice on handling Delta-9 oil.
What’s the best way to warm it up before transferring?
Safe temperature range to reduce viscosity without degrading it?
How do you load it into syringes cleanly with minimal loss?
Any tips or tools that make the process easier?
Appreciate any real-world experience or techniques.
Thanks
At what volume ?
How large is the syringe you wish to fill in volume

Make sure you use materials with good compatibility with d9/aromatic hydrocarbons. Obviously glass would be first choice, followed by SS. Unless you really know what you’re doing, don’t venture outside those materials for holding/transferring oil. If you use a syringe, make sure it is medical/research grade and does not have lubricant. Most syringes have lubricants that will leach into oil. I do not recommend animal/veterinary grade syringes. I had a tough time finding glass medical syringes, as most of them are used for soil/gas sampling and have very small inlets. You’d be best off using a filling machine.
Temperature is important for driving down viscosity. Every batch will have different viscosity. Terpenes will drive down the viscosity a lot. You don’t need more than 10% and should aim for 8% if you don’t have experience terping distillate.
If your D9 is unterped, it will be very thick(1-2 million CP). You’ll probably have to heat it to 80-90C to get it to move. It will degrade at those temps, rather quickly…. so move fast.
If you d9 is terped at an appropriate percentage, its still thick (100000-500000 CP) but can be filled at lower temps. Depending on the viscosity, you’ll want to heat it between 40C and 60C. Your oil will still degrade at those temps but not as quickly. Heat+O2 are your enemies. If your oil comes out darker after filling/transferring, it got extremely degraded. You’ll always lose some volatile compounds no matter what.
For heating syringes and beakers with no integrated heaters(filling machine), I strongly recommend a bead bath. If you are broke, get a sous vide heater and water bath.
Your dirty glassware and syringes can be cleaned in Ethanol and oil recovered/redistilled.
Good luck from across the pond! DM if you need more help.
Edit: Also, use all-stainless steel syringe needs with large gauge. It depends on your application, but my favorite are 10-guage blunt tip. You can even get 8 gauge and bend them flat with pliers so they fit inside carts better.
