What’s the best way to scrub the ethanol smell out of our spot we extract in? We are exhausting it out but we want to make the exhaust not smell bad, also the rooms we work in we want to make it smell less like ethanol. We are using exhaust fans ducking out in areas of concentration and carbon scrubbers throughout our location but still the smell is pretty strong from outside our spot. Anyway to cover it more?
I hope you have proper ventilation, using things that arent certified to work with ethanol can be dangerous. Especially if you can still smell a strong ethanol smell, that just means that there is ethanol vapour in the air.
Ya try creating more inline systems. AKA get a transfer pump that fits to a closed drum and pumps to a closed centrifuge. No buckets or pouring ethanol means no vapors can make it into the air.
Keep it all colder might help?
But yah, if you smell it, it means it’s in the air, which is no good.
So when we use dry ice to keep it colder it evaporates even more. We have a -86 deep chest freezer and do the bucket tech.
Is there a way to soak bags and stuff while leaving everything with lids and having no air getting to ethanol. We are adding more exhaust fans to the room.
Do carbon scrubbers help? We don’t notice much difference. Going to just exhaust more areas outside and try to keep more lids on everything between the steps.
So ozone generators help? Or anything to add inline on the exhaust to make the exhaust not even smell too for the neighbors?
Molecular sieves that catch ethanol
As a filter media to. The outside
Who knows maybe x13 sieves
Haven t gotten any etho molecule size
But either that or a nuclear mistfilter
Might be your answer
Charcoal filter
I’ll add more carbon filters and another exhaust and see if it helps. Also try to get a pump for transfer of ethanol should help. Thanks for the Inout guys.
Would a ozone generator help at all? Maybe Inline with the exhaust towards port of exit outside?
Ozone generator? Isn’t that a naked spark?
+:zap:=:firecracker:
Honestly not sure. Always ask before doing anything to be safe.
Should I just upgrade the pandas n buckets to a cup? The issue is we have 6 pandas going all day and 12 buckets in -86 freezers getting poured all day. Lids on everything but the pouring of Ethanol and dry ice just make a lot of evaporated ethanol.
So maybe time to upgrade to something sealed
If you’re running pandas you can run an ozone generator
Yeah, sealed is good. But now you just need to start figuring out what to buy if you want to make this a compliant lab.
Lol yes. This too.
Are you placing your dry ice directly in your etho ?
If so maybe don t for then the etho doesn t evaporate of
Yeah we place it directly in the etho so we can keep trucking along all day and keep soaking bags in ethanol and keep it -40 or colder.
Trying to find ways around this. Looking into cup or centrifuge from China so I can try to keep things closed more. Maybe a 100gallon pressurized container made of ss and use that as a big soak and diagraph pump transfer liquid from freezer to it. Then to the centrifuge.
