So Im here, trying to appeal to some people that I know have logic…Let me preface this by saying, I don’t have much savings, but my bills are paid for 6 mo and I would never be homeless because of my family. I’m fortunate to be in this position, and it affects my viewpoint 100%, please recognize where i’m coming from and even if you are not in the position to help, you still can, I know you know someone that could, but they need a friend to appeal to logic.
A close friend contacted me and asked me to list hand sanitizer on an ecommerce site I own for x4ish retail markup, price gouging aside, after sleeping on it I told him no in the most polite way I could, no. So what would you do, if you were doing alright (he’s much better off than me, and its his ethanol), and had 500 gallons of ethanol on hand and the capacity to bottle it? Would you sell it at a profit, for cost, or give it away to places that clearly need it right now, banks, grocery stores, even hospitals, and doctors offices, are running low.
I guess it’s a socialist agenda to say that we should stick together in times like this, but in reality, if we don’t and we lose essential services because of nothing other than greed really, we all go down together.
Capitalize on the fear and make money off the hand sanitizer. There are enough other ways to keep your hands clean other than hand sanitizer, and hand sanitizer can be easily made at home with cheap ingredients.
Also, the person who owns the ethanol has account in the morality. What is he going to do with it if you don’t sell it? Sell it himself?
There’s a buy nothing site for my neighborhood where people give away and trade everything imaginable. We gave away some duck eggs today and I happened to be in the front garden with my two year old when the lady came to pick up the eggs.
She said the store was out of chicken eggs, and she had ducks when she was a kid.
I wouldn’t have taken her money even if she offered.
hand santizer doesn’t even work. they get sued yearly for making false claims. it’s a funny/ironic google if you care to do it. anyways, the people paying top dollar for it are the same people getting into fist fights over toilet paper. a fool and his money are soon parted. might as well be into your pocket. besides, you could argue its worse for him to just sit on it.
Lookup the price gouging laws in your state, some sellers are being raided+having their products seized in certain states. I think some companies are trying to get around this by infusing sanitizer with CBD.
