How can I check trim quality before I buy

I am new to making crude from trim, how am I able to check the quality of trim, people tell me that they have 10% or better but I have never gotten close to those numbers when I run it. I am using a Capna ethos, then filter, and put into a 20 liter Lab society short path. How can I check the trim before I buy it to make sure I’m getting good or at least decent quality, without having it lab tested.

15-20 years ago…I would stick my hand in the bag/container open palm, shake my hand for a second…and pull it out. If it didnt have notable trichs on my hand then I wouldn’t fuck with it.

I think ideally one would have a small blast tube to run a single disposable can of butane through it to actually see the yield. If you had known good material, you could blast it and have a standard to compare against when you check out prospective trim purchases.

But I’m a dumb redneck and I’m sure an educated individual will be along shortly to offer more sound advice.

Either buy Trim with a COA or do a micro extraction.

This is what was done in Nor Cal before lab testing. Still works if the lab isn’t on your path to concentrates. :money_mouth_face::money_mouth_face::money_mouth_face:

If you can get a COA for the trim that is ideal

You can do a micro extraction to get an idea

If youre interested in knowing what the cannabinoid profile is you can do a TLC

Fo sho :100: The Nor Cal Cannabinoid test.:rofl::rofl:

Dry sift it. Buy a nice grinder and screen… take good product and build a test control… then u understand how much u should be getting.

10% yield crude or 10% yield distillate?

10% distillate is crazy talk. Usually 10% winterized crude is good, then 50-60% yield crude to distillate.

If you’re just making crude with your trim, you only really need to be testing yield. Your eyes should be able to tell you what you need to know. Look for trichomes. Look at the bottom of the bag, there is usually a nice build up there.

Butane ran trim sometimes ends up back on the market… looks dusty & dank to the uninitiated.

And then rub your hands together a d make some finger hash ro know it hasnt been ran or kiefed , and always flip the bags over there face will tell you if you should keep going. The good oke days of foing to the pines with a uhaul. The things you miss but glad it was another life

I’d get the trim…then head down to the banks of the eel river to open blast. It was harder to make an accidental ignition source when your in the woods on the river lol.

It was another life fo sho…had to get locked in a cage for a minute when I got stopped with my extractors and my produce while out of state up in WA. I wouldn’t change it for the world but glad I’m not running that hustle anymore lol.

I second that, glad i dont deal with uhal’s full of trim anymore. The stress is definitely not worth it now. I got 1foot out the door as it is and cant wait to put the other one through

Orange Photonics, it’ll tell you the levels of thc or cbd in your trim or concentrates. But i only recommend it if your buying in bulk, they will run you about 16k.

Tlc and butane /ethanol wand

I can see you guys walking up to buy biomass with an old school glass tube, couple cans of tane, and a pyrex dish to check the biomass out.

Who’s gonna set the industry standard or make a biomass blast kit (lol)?

Not a bad idea.

Yeah, something that you preload with a 1/4-1/2lb of tane. Just load the biomass place in your small igloo full of DI, wait for 30min and open the valve.
