Responsibilities
The successful candidate will have:
Experience in cannabis or cannabis-related field preferred. Pharmaceutical / Environmental / Food / Nutraceutical testing experience will be considered in lieu of cannabis / hemp experience. Extensive experience in performing quantitative analytical determinations is a minimum requirement.
The successful candidate will possess the following skills and work experience:
1. Experience in the analysis of pesticides by LC-MS/MS and GC-MS/MS to meet regulatory requirements.
2. Strong leadership and laboratory management skills, troubleshooting instrumentation, method development and validation.
3. Working with vendors, taking direction from management, being organized and prepared, understanding and meeting timelines.
4. Scientific writing for reporting, data management reporting, and ability to follow standard operating procedures.
5. Chemical extraction and isolation techniques, sample preparation and analysis of substances extracted from complex sample matrices using LC-MS/MS, GC-MS, GC-MS/MS, and HPLC.
The successful applicant will be expected to:
1. Critically review and interpret results from data generated by a variety of analytical instruments and techniques.
2. Perform work ethically and according to standard operating procedures.
3. Present results of findings at local, regional, national, and international conferences.
Applicant should be familiar with Kentucky state and local regulations for hemp and cannabinoids.
The successful candidate will be responsible for the following activities:
Routine review of complex analytical data across a variety of sample types and matrices.
Maintaining and troubleshooting LC-MS/MS, GC-MS/MS, HPLC, GC, and ICP-MS instruments and method as needed.
Maintaining, organizing, and critically reviewing sample data to generate Certificates of Analysis to meet regulatory requirements.
Effectively communicate across multiple laboratory sections to ensure efficient sample throughput.
Skills
At least 7-10 years of experience in an analytical testing laboratory.
Minimum Bachelor of Science degree in, chemistry, pharmacy, natural or life science or related field.
Experience in the use of LCMS, GCMS, and/or HPLC: 5 years in a regulatory environment.
Experience reviewing and interpreting mass spectral data from complex sample matrices.
Must have a history of working in a fast-paced quantitative analytical laboratory environment with minimal supervision.
Must understand the need for optimizing workflow, meeting turnaround times, and developing streamlined approaches.
Must be able to prioritize and multi-task independently to achieve tasks.
Experience in critically reviewing and interpreting chromatographic data.
Familiarity with quality standards and guidelines as required by FDA, ISO 17025, USP, GLP, and others.
Extensive experience in operating and maintaining Shimadzu, Sciex, PAL, and Agilent instrumentation.
Preferred candidate has pesticide, pharmaceuticals, natural products, contaminants/impurities, cannabis, hemp, food, or other human/animal consumer materials laboratory experience.
