Sounds like you’re looking for a lab director but want to pay a lab tech salary.

Hmu I am a distributor for most major brands and can save you big money on those lab equipment purchases.

Nope. I’m the lab director. I’ll clarify. The lab tech will pretty much just run a cls. When we have enough crude this person will help me with cleaning glassware and maintenance mostly. I also need someone to document for us in metrc and do routine inventory audits. If you’re not sure how labs are usually staffed, there is typically a lab director, maybe a supervisor, a metrc person, and 2-6 techs.

Im not the one with the final say on pay, but 15-30 per hour depending on experience. I’m looking for someone with maybe 1-2 years of experience with some things to learn. like maybe theyre proficient on a cls, but doesn’t know the disty process.

You’re the lab director and aren’t handling metrc, compliance, running the loop, etc, then what are you doing?

I will be doing some of all of those things. Especially in the beginning to get the techs on board with my sops. I will also be making production schedules, employee schedules, recording and analyzing data to determine which products to make/continue to make, making formulations for infused products, training the grow team on how I want my fresh frozen stored, probably more meetings than necessary, going to events to show people who we are and check out new equipment, responding to messages/posts on our social media accounts, interviewing & hiring, giving tours, and I plan on doing the bulk of our post processing and distillations. Right now im ordering the last of the equipment we need, making a lab layout, preparing sds sheets, recruiting, checking things off of our order list as it is delivered, and getting to know the people who work here. If you’d like to learn more about how a lab operates and how they are staffed there are plenty of people on here hungry to consult.

Metrc/ compliance is a salaried position

You don’t want someone inexperienced doing your compliance as it will get you shut down and you can’t get someone experienced without a decent salary.

@akoyeh is a compliance expert and he is about 60-75k a year.

I hired several people cheaper than him and almost got shut down because of it. He saved us.

Our hiring process has been like this. I interview them to see if they have the knowledge im looking for and I think they’re dependable, then they talk to the ceo about compensation. I have made it very clear to him that the compliance person is very important and a decent salary or wage is still a lot cheaper than the mistakes a novice is certain to make.

If they don’t have two years at a licensed facility as the lead metric person you don’t want them. What you think you were going to save on their salary you end up doubling back on fines if you don’t end up losing your license

When I was lab director in Oregon the owners hired some dumb lady to do metric and day one she cost them a quarter million $ by excepting transfer from an extraction facility to another extraction facility. 30 pounds of live resin had to be wasted because of her. That’s about four years of her salary

You should be going to a professional weed staffing agency for this hire.

I wouldn’t think there’s a ton of metrc savvy people on here, but I thought I would add it anyway. I’m more looking for a beginner-intermidiate level tech. Specifically someone with some cls experience who doesn’t have a million bad habits that I have to iron out. We have a c1d1 pod outside of the facility for the cls so I cant be in there as much as I would like to. Techs usually end up on here when they’re the type to hit the books and do research so I feel confident I could make a solid hire for what im looking for.
