I am having some issues infusing distillate gummies at high potency like 25mg for example. My recipe works great with 10mg of distillate per 4g gummy, but when I try to do 25mg my gummies are coming out very stiff and hard without changing anything else in the recipe. I am using a 50/50 blend of distillate and MCT oil to infuse.
Are you using a converted input? I’ve had issues sometimes with the extra stuff in synthetic d9 fuck with the ph. If there’s nothing wrong with ph another option could be to drop your total pectin and/or gelatin concentration.
He should post the total oil/canna% vs the rest of the formula.. I seriously doubt it’s the extra oil making his gummies more stiff.. should be the opposite. They’d be softer if anything.
I’ve gotten 100mg into 3.5gm no problem but maybe if I doubled it that would be the case? Either way, that’s a stupid amount for one gummy. 10-25mg should make zero difference unless your recipe is bad / drying conditions are off.
Curious on any tips you can point out to try to get that much mg into one gummy. I’ve had someone ask me recently to try to get 100-150mg into one 5 gram gummy. I kinda figured it wasnt all that doable, but if you’ve got some pointers for fitting that much into one gummy I’m all ears. (I also agree its a silly amount in one gummy…I just like a challenge lol)
Ive gotten 200 mg into a 3 gram gummy no problem, there are some tricks to it but I use the same recipe for 5 mg as i do for a 200 now that Ive figured some things out
You need to look at other things that can effect your gummies consistency
Seems like my issue might have been assuming the brix would not change drastically vs cook temp with the additional distillate added (compared to my standard 10mg/gummy infusion). I normally benchtop flavors before I run commercial runs and with this higher potency, I was cooking the benchtop to the same cook temp I normally did at the lower potency, without checking the brix (because I normally know what cook temp correlates with what brix), which resulted in a very firm gummy (pretty much a Starburst). So it seems like I can use the same recipe but will need to cook to a significantly lower brix/cook temp when running high potency infusion to get the desired consistency.
