Hexane in CBD Isolate

Hello crew,

Is it typical to see a spike if Hexane in a cbd isolate sample and if so, why? I have a sample that tested at 150 ppm. Our action limit is 50 ppm for a failed result.

Thanks in advance.

Hexane was the solvent used to crystallize the isolate, and it wasn’t purged well enough.

Check every isolate COA and you will most likely see detectable level of solvent. Unless the lab is in Nevada where they are not required to test for hexane.

to add to this, the federal limit for hexane is 290ppm

A lot of folks hate the volatility of pentane and use hexane Instead
But Unless you heat and purge by vacuum and recrystelize hexane willl stick around it s a tough solvent to purge below scent treshhold wich is around 30 ppm within limits but still smelling like fuel :grinning:

Also a HUGE reason people use hexane vs pentane is hexane is C1D2 and pentane is C1d1
