Hemp Derived Delta 9/ Compliant Delta 9

I would appreciate if someone could please help understand what Hemp Derived Delta 9 and/or Compliant Delta 9 is? I am in Indiana so Delta 9 isn’t fully legal but people are starting to get products from smoke shops, gas stations, etc that say Hemp derived Delta 9 on them.

Either converted from CBD or pulled out of mother liquor, usually the former

The argument is that a finished good below .3% d9 is legal, but it requires the incidental manufacture of a controlled substance at some point

Mostly all hemp concentrates fall into the hot category at some point.
Nothing was done to stop or question that…
SO here we are

It might be a good idea to consider a few things.

  1. Does your employer/school/the court care at all where that came from if you fail a urine analysis?
  2. What does it feel like to be in jail/prison in Indiana? There are people getting arrested there sometimes for cannabis still. And their lives are not great.
  3. Do you have the money for a lawyer to discuss all of this, should possession, sale, or transfer of this material get you in trouble?

There’s been DECADES of people who look at these questions and decide to do these things anyway. Including all kinds of synthetic cannabinoids and other drugs that are often sold at smoke shops, gas stations, etc.

Often people don’t get caught doing these things. Its a limited risk. However - there are still thousands of people in prison because of these kinds of things because they were not good at not getting caught.

So you know - consider your risks and decide if you really care that much about low potency hemp products. When you could instead, I don’t know - go to Michigan and buy stupid cheap actual THC products, with potentially the same amount of risk. But not worrying about boof hemp products that may or may not be illegal.

This pretty much is the dilemma. I’m pretty sure all of us hemp boys got into the business with the best intentions of operating legally, but it sure is interesting how this market has shaped up. With the kinds of decisions you have to make to keep up with market trends, plausible deniability sure is a hell of a drug!

Yeah, it’s not a fun place to go to the clink when your neighbors up and to the left pretty much have free reign.

As stated elsewhere in this thread, it is definitely illegal at some point in processing. I could see how you could play it straight getting legal finished inputs, but that processing could be money in your pocket. It’s ultimately up to you how you conduct your business in that state, legally or otherwise.
