Help with Kratom Extraction

I have a ton of kratom and was thinking about making some extract. Can anyone explain how hard this process would be?

"The crude dried extracts were suspended in water and the pH was adjusted to 3 with 0.1 M hydrochloric acid, the mixtures were washed with petroleum ether. A 0.1 M solution of NH4OH was added to the aqueous layer until pH 9 was reached and the alkaloids were extracted with dichloromethane. The organic phase was dried over anhydrous Na2SO4 and the solvent removed under vacuum. "

Thanks, I think I might have figured it out. It was more of a general chemistry question.
