Help with distillate equipment

Try PTFE plumbers tape, or sleeves as @Demontrich said

It’s not a common size for the sleeves plus the sleeves would cover the drain hole.
I’m just going to pick a a cold trap with a 24/40 joint at the bottom and take this one out to my range.

Post a pic, in sure one of us can come up with a solution.

I can smell epoxy !

Edit: misread original post, I thought you said $10k to $20k :grimacing:

I’m 732 feet above sea level

Hire a consultant to put you together a distillation package at a reasonable price…OR search bar it!

As most people have mentioned, do not skimp on the pump.

In my opinion, $2,000 is not enough to purchase a new 5L system, even if you cheap out on every single component…if you do cheap out on every single component, you are going to have some problems.

What would you say a good range would be on average 3-4?

Again, paying someone 5% the total cost of the system to put it together for you is always my suggested method, but a good system:

$10,000 - @spdking 5L kit - https://summit-research.tech/product/spd-5-package-a/

$3,000 - Edwards E2M28 - Edwards E2M28 Rotary Vane Pump, 1 Phase, Rebuilt

I always encourage people to get a small recirculator, it’s just cleaner and gives more control over the system.

Realistically though, you can get a sous-vide on amazon for a few hundred bucks.

You can get a 5L turnkey system from xtractor depot for $12,000 Pathfinder Series 5L Short Path | SPP-5L

You can piece together a fullbore system from USALab for about half that.

I would recommend going with higher end stuff, because even if you’re in CA you’re talking about 3L of distillate to pay back a GOOD system.

Or 1,000 cartridges if you’re selling at $15/cart.

That’s my :spoon: for today

I gotta pretty decent 30 L Roto available in the classifieds

Your no where near full vac then.we can pull well below that at 600 feet. Full vac should be somewhere around -29.2 to -29.6 at your altitude on your gauge. After that your into the micron ratings.
We peg out the -30 vacuum gauge on the reactors with a 12cfm 2 stage rotary vein pump.

Could that be due to using the cheap plastic hosing that came with the across international .9 vac oven and vaccum or is that more because of just needing a better pump?

I usually get right at 700 on the gauge

so something like this would not be sufficient?

I’m new to this whole thing too so I’m not looking to pump out much more than a few liters a month for now.
