I’m having a problem currently with water getting into my final product. When I purge in my across international vac oven I’m seeing water vapor on the window and what looks like ice in the collection bowl before it’s hot bathed.
Whats a collection bowl
What is your process? Do you have a mol seive?
What’s the tube size on your unit? If you have ice in your lines I’m surprised you’re actually flowing.
Also how hot is your oven? I really doubt that water vapor is forming during shatter (any product really) cure, or at least it shouldn’t. I only pull water when I do a devol/decarb only because my temps are greater than 100degC.
That’s what you put your tithe in.
It’s a closed column extractor from BVV with a CRC attachment. It holds about a half pound of material per run. I originally thought that maybe condensation on the outside of the tube was dripping in to the product but I’m not sure now because even without dry ice in the de-waxing sleeve it still managed to get water in it somehow. Go easy on me guys I’m a newbie and yes I’m aware that closed loop is the preferred way and less of a danger.
What CRC powder stack are you using? Bentonite usually has issues with cold+moisture which you would see via clogs and pressures not moving.
Zero hate here we just gotta identify the issue before we can troubleshoot. Also how are you purging, with water baths?
I’m using the insert they sell on BVV. I don’t pack my own powders. I didn’t trust myself to pack my own powders for the CRC. There’s a light, medium and hard pre-packed insert that you can buy on BVV that comes with the CRC cartridge they sell. You just peel the top off and slip in into the chamber. And I’m using water to hot bath the oil. I usually run into oil slick ptfe that is clipped onto a bowl.
Do you have a photo of the sightglass you’re talking about? Are you sure it’s not just water clear sprayback from the first few seconds of your blast?
I then put it into my .9 cubic foot across international vac oven for the muffin. I have the oven set to 100 degrees Fahrenheit and I pull between 25 and 30. I was taught to close the valve once it reaches its highest vac to hold the pressure but I’ve also been reading that you should let the vaccum keep running instead of closing the valve. I am using mostly ultra pure butane or neon 11x. I run about 6 cans per run of the 300ml. It is done outside in a open space as safe as possible.
I didn’t think about spray back and I will see if I have a pic of it but it’s what looks like water condensation all on the window. Can you explain what the sprayback would be from? Is there water some how in the tube that the first spray of tane is clearing out?
Are you pulling vacuum on the tube prior to injection?
If not the moisture is coming from the ambient air in the tube.
No I had no clue I needed to do that but that would make since. So basically I can connect my vac pump to the tube and pull negative pressure to clear that?
Pull vacuum from the bottom of the vessel. What part of the country are you in?
Well right now I’m driving out to California. But I’m based in Pennsylvania. Long story short I had a falling out with my partner who is from Chico,CA and now I’m kind of flying blind trying to make something happen out west so I can keep things moving. It’s been a crazy year so far to say the least. I appreciate the help.
The humidity is for sure the issue there then. I started extracting out of necessity too. You’re in the right place bro. Reach out if you need anything
Thanks bro I appreciate it I’m definetley doing it out of necessity. I’m semi-new to the cannabis industry as of late. I dabbled back in the early 2000s but not in the production end or anything just as a young buck on the east coast. I ran into a guy a year ago who is from Chico,CA and he basically convinced me to drop my career and partner with him on a garden in Concoa and this year was supposed to be Oregon. We had a falling out and now I’m left with no other choice but to extract because I have all the equipment and no other way to support my family. I have a genuine love for cannabis and it’s benefits and I absolutely want this to be my career. Just trying to make it work for now so I can save up and go full legit eventually. I feel kind of retarded for putting all my eggs in one basket with this guy but we were like family and I guess I just didn’t expect him to go A-wall. He had all the connections to the farmers in Trinity,Bear creek and southern Oregon area plus we already had our own farm going near Williams,OR. So I’m basically just in a big F’d up mess and trying to hustle my way through it and on my way out west to hopefully find someone or someway to keep everything moving. Sorry for the huge elaborate speech but it is what it is I guess.
Yeah I feel your pain man. Having a family to support makes the work that much more important. Hang around here more and I’m sure you’ll find more connections.
I think all of us have been in some sort of situation like that before. It’s almost like a right of passage.
Unfortunately
Yeah well I’m earning my stripes. I love the cannabis community and most of the people involved are great people. When you build things from the ground up it sucks trying to adapt to huge hits but it happens. I greatly appreciate everyone’s help. Thanks again!!
