For some reason my phone will only take shitty pics of my rig, but it’s exactly this one, except I threw out the mini nail and put a regular sized nail on it.

I’ve used quite a few rigs when I was a smalltime glass broker for shops(buy boxes of china rigs off importer warehouses and cases of American glass to sell to smoke shops),smoked lot of china, lot of local, and a few heady but I never bought em.
I’ve always been a sucker for special k glass. Super pretty, tons of shapes/styles, limited editions that are similar price to his normal prodo, and they soft glass so they aren’t crazy spendy with colors.

You’d have to find a quartz worker as most glassblowing torches can’t do quartz at any efficient rate. I had a dude on IG that made a recycling terp slurper a few years back but I’ll have to go find his name The torchtalk fb group may be able to point you to someone who works quartz if you’re wanting designs like the toner tech and/or laser tech fume that mother ship and other companies are doing.

I didn’t realize quartz was something few worked with.
I blew soft glass 20 years ago…so my torch work knowledge is limited.
I just assumed if you did torch work you’d be set up for it. I can’t imagine being able to able to make a rig but not a banger…
Quartz just takes more heat which many boro and soft glass torches don’t do well at, it can be done but it’s slow and prone to a lot of haze. Plus running hydrogen can get expensive really fast
Quartz is pure silica, boro and soft glass have fluxes and other compounds to make it workable at lower temps and less prone to shock, clarity, etc.
People are out there that work quartz but not a ton in the boro scene, a lot in the scientific scene tho
I get bangers off amazon cheap, and they last a long time so they are real quartz. Ive never broke it due to heat cycling, its always a dogs tail swipe. She hasnt proke a heady, only a sovergnty.

One of the coolest smoking devices I’ve ever used was a TRAFFIC CONE with a sink catcher as the screen in a pool as a giant gravity bong. Got the idea from my step mom.
No picture was decades ago when a kid.

Haha I guess I’ll just start posting each rig individually right after I clean it. I basically rotate my rigs for like 4-5 days at a time then clean it and pull out a new one. Here’s the one I just finished seshing the last 4 days and just cleaned so it’s all nice and sparkly. This is a collab fab egg between Dawnk, who did the shaping. And Ty Watts who did the sections. I’ve probably had this guy 4 years. Definitely love this piece. Not sure why the photos got turned sideways
